With over five decades of rich experience, he has played a transformative role in shaping the country’s automotive supply chain, driving innovation, self-reliance, and global competitiveness.
Transforming Uno Minda into a Global Conglomerate
Under his visionary leadership, Uno Minda Group has grown from a small manufacturing setup into a USD 2.35 billion global conglomerate, operating 75 manufacturing plants across six countries. The Group’s diversified portfolio now includes 28 product lines, serving leading OEMs worldwide.
Mr. Minda’s strategic foresight has been instrumental in the localisation of auto components, fostering self-reliance in the Indian auto ecosystem. Through Uno Minda’s R&D centres and collaborations with international technology partners, he has facilitated the introduction of advanced global technologies into India, boosting domestic innovation and capability.
Leadership in Industry Bodies
Minda has served the industry in several key capacities — as President of ACMA (2017–2018), Vice-President (2016–2017), and Chairman of ACMA Northern Region for three consecutive years. As ACMA President, he revolutionised the organisation by enhancing government advocacy, skill development, regulatory reforms, and research initiatives, making ACMA one of India’s most influential industry associations.
Recognition and Awards
A recipient of multiple prestigious honours, Mr. Minda has been conferred with the EY Entrepreneur of the Year (Medium Category) and Business Today’s Best CEO Award (2019). He was also awarded the ‘Haryana Ratna’ for his remarkable professional achievements and social contributions.
Commitment to Social Responsibility
A firm believer in inclusive growth and community development, Nirmal Minda, along with his wife Smt. Suman Minda, established Samarth-Jyoti, the flagship CSR initiative under the Suman Nirmal Minda Charitable Foundation. For over two and a half decades, the foundation has worked to uplift underprivileged communities across India through education, healthcare, and skill development.
Today, the Foundation operates two senior secondary schools (with over 1,500 students each), a 100-bed multi-speciality hospital, and 18 Samarth Jyoti centres across 18 villages in seven states, touching the lives of more than 15,000 people annually.
