This appointment is not merely a position, but a profound responsibility — to lead an institution that has been an integral part of India’s economic evolution for over a century, says Nirmal K. Minda

NEW DELHI (India CSR): Industrialist Nirmal Kumar Minda, Executive Chairman of Uno Minda Limited, has assumed charge as the President of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), one of the country’s oldest and most influential apex business bodies.

In his statement following the appointment, Minda described his new role as “not merely a position, but a profound responsibility” — to lead an institution that has played an integral role in shaping India’s economic evolution for over a century.

Vision for Viksit Bharat 2047

Outlining his agenda, Mr. Minda emphasized that as India moves toward its vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, it is the collective duty of the business community to ensure that India not only keeps pace with global transformation but leads it.

He highlighted five transformative pillars that will define ASSOCHAM’s path under his leadership — Make in India, Ease of Doing Business, MSME Growth, Digital Economy, and Sustainability. These, he said, represent the foundation of “Economic Reforms 2.0”, aligning with the national goal of building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

“Our path ahead is defined by five transformative pillars — Make in India, Ease of Doing Business, MSME Growth, Digital Economy, and Sustainability — the very essence of Economic Reforms 2.0,” said Minda in his statement.

Strengthening India’s Global Economic Standing

Minda also pledged to strengthen India’s position as a global hub of sustainable industry, investment, and innovation. He expressed confidence that a renewed sense of collaboration between government, industry, and society will make ASSOCHAM the “most respected Chamber of Commerce in India”, representing the aspirations of a resurgent, future-ready nation.

“With a renewed sense of purpose and collaboration, I am confident that together we can make ASSOCHAM the most respected Chamber of Commerce in India — one that truly reflects the spirit of a resurgent, future-ready nation,”
Mr. Minda added.

ASSOCHAM Welcomes Minda’s Appointment

In an official post, ASSOCHAM hailed Minda as a visionary industrialist and thought leader, noting that his appointment marks a new chapter in the Chamber’s 105-year legacy of promoting India’s economic progress.

“We look forward to his guidance in strengthening India’s position as a global hub of sustainable industry, investment, and innovation,”
ASSOCHAM said in its statement.
