Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee has taken over as the CEO of Anil Agarwal Foundation. In his role, Dr. Chatterjee will provide leadership to AAF and establish it as a front-runner among leading foundations of the country. He will drive the larger purpose of nation-building and giving back to society at large. The Anil Agarwal Foundation is focusing on women and children nutrition and aims to impact 7 crore children and 2 crore women across 13.7 lakh Anganwadis in India.

Dr. Chatterjee is recognized as the key leader in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He is an IAS from the 1975 batch and has played a major role in the inclusion of Section 135 in the Companies Act of 2013 and framing of the rules thereafter. He has also authored books. One of them is titled ‘Sustainable Futures – Imperatives for Managing the Social Agenda’ which shows how Government, Corporates and Civil society organizations can synergize their efforts to build a whole new paradigm of development that is sustainable, humanistic, and inclusive.
This year in July at the time of announcing the Rs 5000-crore holistic initiative for the development of rural India, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal said, “We aim to strengthen our efforts and facilitate sustainable and inclusive growth, which is the need of the hour to protect and provide for our communities. The Swasth Gaon Abhiyaan initiative is the first step in our journey to provide end to end healthcare solutions across the rural landscape covering 1000 villages. This program will also complement Vedanta’s flagship Nand Ghar project which aims to impact 7 crore children and 2 crore women.”
Rs. 331 crores CSR Spending in FY 2021
Vedanta has rolled out its maiden Social Impact – CSR Report for the financial year. According to the report, the company has positively impacted the lives of 4.23 crore people across the country through its various social development initiatives.
Over the years, Vedanta has built many impactful CSR programs in India and is considered one of the most socially responsible corporates in the country. The
company has spent Rs. 331 crores in the last financial year on various CSR activities with focus on pandemic relief works, children’s well-being & education, women empowerment, health care, sustainable agriculture & animal welfare, market linked skilling of youth, environment protection and restoration, and development of
community infrastructure.
The comprehensive social impact report lays out Vedanta’s CSR policy including the aims and objectives, implementation and audit guidelines as well as the activities being carried out across 56 prominent projects across the country in various sectors including education, sustainable livelihoods, health, skilling, women empowerment, environment, sports, water, sanitation and community development.
