NEW DELHI (India CSR): In FY 2023-24, Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M) reaffirmed its strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by spending the entire mandated Rs 16.80 crore under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013. Focused on long-term socio-economic upliftment, the company channelled this spending into transforming lives through access to quality education, healthcare, environment sustainability, and rural infrastructure.

Backed by the Rajanna Foundation and Amara Raja Educational Society, these initiatives directly benefited over 50,000 people, with an overwhelming focus on marginalized and vulnerable communities, especially in the rural belts of Andhra Pradesh.

Commitment to CSR Compliance

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility, with a turnover of Rs 11,260.30 crore and net worth of Rs 6,768.65 crore in FY 2023-24, fulfilled its CSR obligation of Rs 16.80 crore—equivalent to 2% of its average net profit of Rs 840.12 crore.

Notably, the company reported zero unspent CSR funds, no administrative overhead, and no impact assessment cost during the year, highlighting transparency and efficient use of resources.

1. Education for All: Reaching Rural Roots

Through three schools run under the Amara Raja Educational Society—Karakambadi, Diguvamagham, and Petamitta—the company provided CBSE-affiliated quality education to 4,718 students, of which 80% belong to vulnerable communities. These schools play a crucial role in nurturing future generations by offering structured education with modern infrastructure.

2. Skill Development: Empowering Rural Youth

Since its inception in 2014, the Amara Raja Skill Development Centre (ARSDC) at Petamitta has become a hub for skilling youth, especially women. In FY 2023-24, 1,533 students, including 423 girls, were trained under various trades, preparing them for non-migratory employment and aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ mission.

3. Healthcare Access: Touching 20,000 Lives

Under the CSR healthcare program, ARE&M extended primary health services to over 17,163 outpatients, supported by diagnostic testing for 14,190 individuals. These services target rural populations lacking access to affordable medical care—especially children, women, and the elderly.

Environmental Commitment and Rural Infrastructure

4. Social Forestry & Environment

The company’s social forestry program included the planting of over 71,000 saplings, employing 12 tribal families in the process. This green initiative supports sustainable livelihoods while enhancing biodiversity and forest regeneration.

5. Water Conservation and Village Development

Amara Raja supported the construction of check dams and deepening of lakes across 60 villages in 12 panchayats, benefiting 21,674 people through improved water access. In addition, infrastructure projects like roads, public toilets, auditoriums, marriage halls, and electric crematoriums enhanced community well-being across three villages and two schools.
