Piramal Foundation presents ‘Doing Well & Doing Good’ to Hon’ble President of India to showcase their pan-India social sector initiatives

Ajay Piramal, Chairman, Piramal Group, and Dr. Swati Piramal, Vice Chairperson, Piramal Group, recently met with Smt. Draupadi Murmu, President of India, to discuss the various initiatives undertaken by the Piramal Foundation to solve some of the most challenging problems in the country. The meeting was an opportunity to present the Hon’ble President with a book titled ‘Doing Well & Doing Good,’ which showcases the Foundation’s pan-India programmes in areas of tribal health and welfare, education, water conservation, Ayushman Bharat, and digital healthcare services.

‘Doing Well & Doing Good’ book

The book offers a glimpse into the comprehensive portfolio of solutions offered by the Piramal Foundation, which includes Big Bets aimed at helping India achieve her Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. One of the key programmes under the Foundation, the Tribal Health Collaborative, is focused on eliminating tuberculosis, reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates, improving healthcare access through traditional tribal medicine, and integrating art and culture in tribal health.

Aspirational Districts Collaborative

Another crucial initiative is the Aspirational Districts Collaborative, which aims to uplift the lives of 100 million people living in poverty in 112 Aspirational Districts by 2030 through hyperlocal collaboration and last-mile convergence. The Foundation is working towards mobilizing foundational literacy and learning, screening and treating people with anemia, and fostering self-reliance and ownership in water management.

Piramal School of Leadership and Digital Bharat Collaborative

The Piramal School of Leadership, another key initiative, nurtures leaders of tomorrow in the fields of education, health, and climate sustainability. The Digital Bharat Collaborative looks at implementing digital architecture for improved healthcare services.

President appreciates Piramal Foundation’s initiatives

President appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the Piramal Foundation to address critical issues across India’s social sector ecosystems and touch the lives of over 113 million Indians across 27 states and 2 Union Territories. With operations in 30 countries and a brand presence in over 100 markets, the Piramal Group’s turnover is ~$1.9 billion in FY 2022. Driven by its core values, the Group pursues inclusive growth while adhering to ethical and value-driven practices.

Piramal Foundation’s vision and partnerships

The Piramal Foundation’s vision is to transform health, education, water, and social sector ecosystems through partnerships, high-impact solutions, and thought leadership. Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, it partners with the Central Government and State Governments, international and national organizations, and academia to help improve the delivery of government services while adhering to its values of “Doing well and Doing good.”

Impact on underserved communities

By focusing on the most underserved groups within India, strengthening the ability of states to deploy impactful initiatives, and engaging youth in nation-building efforts, the Foundation has touched the lives of over 100 million Indians in the last 15 years. The ‘Doing Well & Doing Good’ book serves as a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to solving the most intractable problems facing India’s social sector ecosystems.
