DHAMRA (India CSR): In the remote village of Karanjamala, Sahadeb Mandal, a dedicated farmer and a proud member of the Gobinda Farmers Club, has emerged as an inspiration for small and marginal farmers. With just one acre of land, Sahadeb has successfully adopted high-value vegetable cultivation, proving that even small-scale farming can be highly profitable. With the continuous support of the Adani Foundation, he has embraced modern agricultural techniques and organic farming practices, transforming his livelihood and setting an example for others in his community.

Overcoming Challenges with Adani Foundation’s Support

As a marginal farmer, Sahadeb faced multiple challenges, including low productivity, high input costs, and fluctuating market rates. However, with the intervention of the Adani Foundation, he received the necessary training, agricultural inputs, and technical support to transition towards high-value vegetable cultivation. By focusing on crops like cabbage, cauliflower, and brinjal, he optimized his farm’s potential and significantly increased his income.

Adoption of Modern Agricultural Techniques

Sahadeb’s transformation was made possible through a series of interventions supported by the Adani Foundation, which focused on empowering marginal farmers with modern agricultural practices. The foundation guided him in selecting high-demand and high-margin crops, helping him maximize returns from his small landholding. Sahadeb received extensive training on organic manure application, soil health management, and sustainable farming techniques, reducing his dependency on chemical inputs.

Eco-Friendly Farming Innovations

By adopting INM and IPM techniques, he ensured balanced soil fertility and effective pest control without harming the environment. With the introduction of solar-powered insect traps, he minimized crop losses due to pests while reducing the use of chemical pesticides, ensuring healthier and eco-friendly produce. The Adani Foundation provided high-quality seeds, organic fertilizers, and advanced farm equipment, easing his financial burden and boosting productivity. Sahadeb attended training programs and exposure visits facilitated by the foundation, learning firsthand about innovative farming techniques and best practices from successful farmers.

Inspiring a Community of Farmers

Sahadeb’s adoption of modern and organic farming has significantly boosted his crop yield and income, ensuring a better future for his family. His success has inspired other marginal farmers in Karanjamala to embrace innovative techniques. With support from the Adani Foundation, he plans to expand productivity through drip irrigation, polyhouse farming, and advanced organic methods. His journey showcases how knowledge and institutional backing can transform small-scale farming into a sustainable and profitable venture, paving the way for rural prosperity.
