A Deep Dive into Aadhar’s CSR Spending for FY 2024-25
For the financial year 2024-25, Aadhar Housing Finance Limited’s total CSR obligation, calculated as two percent of its average net profit, stood at Rs 14.81 crores (Rs 1,481.25 lakhs). Against this obligation, the company diligently spent Rs 9.69 crores (Rs 969.46 lakhs) directly on CSR projects, encompassing both ongoing and new initiatives. An additional Rs 38.12 lakhs was allocated to administrative overheads, bringing the total expenditure to Rs 10.08 crores (Rs 1,007.58 lakhs).
Notably, a sum of Rs 4.74 crores (Rs 473.67 lakhs) remained unspent by the end of the fiscal year. However, this unspent amount is not a reflection of a lack of commitment but rather a strategic decision. These funds have been carefully identified and committed to multi-year projects, ensuring a sustained and qualitative impact over time. In compliance with regulations, this unspent sum was transferred to a designated “Unspent Corporate Social Responsibility Account 2025” on April 24, 2025, and is earmarked for utilization within the next three financial years. This approach highlights Aadhar’s long-term vision for its CSR interventions, prioritizing meaningful difference and continuous impact.
Empowering Communities Through Diverse Initiatives
Aadhar Housing Finance’s CSR framework focuses on key thematic areas, including healthcare, education and skill development, environmental conservation, and sports promotion. These initiatives are meticulously designed to deliver tangible benefits, promote social equity, improve livelihoods, and increase access to essential services for targeted communities.
In the healthcare sector, Aadhar contributed significantly by donating essential medical equipment. This included 2 ETCO2 monitors, 2 ECG machines, and 1 defibrillator, along with OT lights, to the Sanjeevani Mamta Hospital & Research Center in Mumbai, representing an investment of Rs 2.60 lakhs (Rs 26.03 lakhs). The company also focused on enhancing early childhood care, education, and nutrition, reaching over 1,000 children and 400 pregnant women and lactating mothers. Teleconsultations and medical equipment support further broadened healthcare access for many.
Education and skill development received substantial attention, empowering over 4,200 underprivileged students and specially-abled children. This included the provision of 2 tablets to NSRTC centers in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, at a cost of Rs 24,000 (Rs 0.24 lakhs). Supporting vocational training, Aadhar installed 3 industrial sewing machines at the SOS Vocational Training Centre in Faridabad, Haryana, valued at Rs 90,000 (Rs 0.90 lakhs). Furthermore, the company set up a library and a science lab, and installed solar panels at the Guru Nanak English High School & Junior College of Commerce in Mumbai, investing Rs 2.31 lakhs (Rs 23.11 lakhs) in these educational enhancements. Initiatives also covered the skilling of over 1,450 women and youth, and providing support for the rescue and rehabilitation of out-of-school children.
Fostering Environmental Stewardship and Green Housing
Aadhar’s commitment to sustainability is deeply integrated into its social responsibility efforts. During FY 2024-25, the company actively advanced its Green Building Certification initiative, promoting eco-friendly construction practices and encouraging builders and developers to adopt sustainable standards. In collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, Aadhar is designing a comprehensive value proposition for Green Affordable Self-Construction Housing. This partnership aims to promote affordable green homes that can help families save at least 20% on electricity and water costs, directly benefiting underserved segments. Impressively, 90 green houses nationwide received certification, with Karnataka alone accounting for 44 of these, showcasing strong regional adoption.
In addition to green housing, environmental conservation efforts included a significant tree plantation drive in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, where 4,500 saplings were planted. The company also invested in water security measures, constructing 2 groundwater recharge structures and 2 overhead tanks in Nayakhet & Kalanada Village, Rajasthan, with an expenditure of Rs 1.29 lakhs (Rs 12.86 lakhs). Further contributing to sustainable energy, Aadhar installed solar panels at SOS Childrens’ Villages of India & Hermann Gmeiner School in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, costing Rs 2.37 lakhs (Rs 23.73 lakhs), and an additional installation at Thamla Village, Rajasthan, for Rs 29,700 (Rs 2.97 lakhs). These efforts highlight Aadhar’s dedication to promoting ecological balance and creating green public spaces.
Strategic Intent and Future Vision
Aadhar’s CSR initiatives are not isolated acts of philanthropy but are woven into its strategic fabric, aiming for long-term value creation. The company’s deep understanding of underserved segments enables tailored financial solutions and impactful community-driven initiatives. This dual focus on business growth and social impact has garnered recognition, including the prestigious CSR Award in 2024.
The Board of Directors and senior leadership, including Dr. Punita Kumar Sinha as Chairperson of the CSR Committee since November 06, 2024, play a pivotal role in overseeing these initiatives, ensuring strategic alignment and integrity. As a company with Assets Under Management (AUM) of Rs 25,500 crores and a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 912 crores in FY 2024-25, Aadhar Housing Finance continues to leverage its financial strength to uplift communities. The company aims to further its mission of enabling homeownership for every Indian, especially in low-income segments, by expanding its branch network and digital infrastructure, reaching deep into underserved markets across 21 states and union territories.
Aadhar’s commitment to social impact is also reflected in its robust governance practices and adherence to regulatory requirements. Even when facing minor non-compliances like a one-day delay in intimation of a record date or composition issues in committees, the company promptly addresses them and pays applicable fines, such as the Rs 10,000 fine to BSE Limited for a delay in notice submission. Similarly, a Rs 5 lakh penalty from RBI for a fair practice code deviation was addressed by correcting the system for interest levy. These instances, while noted, are handled with transparency, reinforcing the company’s commitment to compliance and ethical operations.
A Foundation for Sustainable Progress
Aadhar Housing Finance’s substantial CSR spending in FY 2024-25, alongside its strategic deployment of unspent funds, reflects a holistic approach to corporate responsibility. By integrating technology, enhancing customer experience, and actively investing in community and environmental programs, Aadhar is not just providing affordable housing finance but is also building a more inclusive and sustainable future for India. The company’s dedication to its values—innovation, integrity, and customer delight—continues to drive its efforts to expand financial inclusion and empower millions across the nation. This robust framework positions Aadhar as a leader not just in finance, but in fostering collective progress and creating lasting societal value.
