New Delhi – State-run NTPC Ltd recruited 10 persons-with-benchmark-disabilities (PwBD) in 2018 in its bid to give adequate representation to physically challenged people, the company said in its annual report for the financial year 2018-19 (Apr-Mar).
This brings the total count to 511 specially abled in the company as of 1 Jan, the report says.
This is 2.7% of its total employee strength of 18,359 during this period.
The reservations have been provided in compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (RPwD), 2016, the report said.
Some of the other benefits being extended to the PwBD include travelling allowance for attendants/escorts for accompanying the employees on travel during tours.
NTPC also conducted training programmes on safety and skill development for over 23% and 42% PwBD employees.
It has entered into an agreement with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) to benefit around 5,000 differently abled persons (DAP) in the neighborhoods of its projects over a period of three years, starting 2016-17.
