Education: Follow your passion and create your career path, advices AICTE Chairman

FUEL has launched gyandaan.org portal in which scholarships are given to under privileged and needy bright students. Employee volunteering and alumni connect are  key features.

Participating in APJ Kalam FUEL Fellows Convocation with Leadership awards and Future Skills Conclave as Chief Guest Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi called upon the students to follow their passion and create their career path.

He was impressed by the inspiring stories of other speakers at the conclave who shared their experiences in life to the participants. He also expressed his happiness about FUEL signing MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Visveshwariah Technological University Belagavi and Sagar Science Forum, Sagar which will impart future skills among young students.

Dr. Sahasrabudhe also mentioned about new education policy recently launched by Government of India focusing on liberal arts and offering students an opportunity to choose the courses they like. He said three new courses in the areas of Environment (ecology), Constitution and Ancient Knowledge can be offered to students. He also mentioned about implementation of faculty training programmes under Atal Academy should happen. He felt engagement in the class needs to be changed keeping in mind student’s interest and grabbing their attention.

He said, “The role of a teacher is to identify the talent in students, nurture and encourage to develop it and put to proper use. Good students should become teachers of tomorrow and make all their students feel proud.”Finally Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe also called upon educational institutions to implement three weeks’ student induction program as outlined by AICTE which may transform education to meet the requirements of industry.

Eminent personalities from the field of business and academics also spoke during the conclave to pass their experiences and share their own stories. Shri Madan Kore, Managing Director and Regional Head, Citi Technologies, Pune, explained about difficulties he faced to come up in life considering his tribal background. He shared his learning by quoting anecdote of somebody pointing to him as “Hey you…” which he feels made him strongly determined to make a career path.

Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director Volvo Group India mentioned “We are living in exciting times of Socio- Economic transformation in India. The change will be exponential. When the change is so dynamic, how are you going to stay ahead?” He said there are three ways to cope up with change, Digitalization, Changing business models and Sustainability. Finally he said India will become superpower by 2030 and third largest economy and to achieve that organizations will have to go through paradigm shift. HR department has to transform from rule- based policies to performance-based policies. Finally he said you don’t have to be good at everything, decide the areas in which you can excel and have a compelling vision and ambition.

Garima Babbar, Head programs, (Education and Skill development) Adobe shared her experiences at Adobe and called upon students to develop reading habits and learn about new changes happening. She felt creativity and Digital skills must be developed by students.

Anil Kumar B H, additional chief secretary, Government of Karnataka (Department of Higher Education) gave statistics of Karnataka State performance in education sector. He said the challenges for future are tech savvy generation, need for socially well connected and external world changing fast. Finally he also explained the Kaushalya Gyan Ganga Yojana of Government of Karnataka.

Dr. Pramod B Gai, Vice Chancellor, Karnatak University Dharwad said only students with passion will succeed. He called upon the need for following holistic approach in developing future skills among students.  He also underscored the importance of Human Intelligence quotient which will be the future power skill needed among students.

Kanta Singh, Project Head, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) said things have changed very fast in last ten years in Education Sector in India. She felt the need for following inclusive development, power of dreams, storytelling and collaboration as different tools to achieve building future skills among students.

Dr. Pratima Sheorey, Director, Symbiosis Centre for Management and HRD called upon students to follow their dream and intution while developing career. Dr. Sayalee Gankar, Dean, MIT World Peace University, Pune shared stories of inspiration she experienced and advised students to convert dreams into reality by starting their own venture and creating job opportunities for others.

FUEL has launched gyandaan.org portal in which scholarships are given to under privileged and needy bright students. Employee volunteering and alumni connect are  key features. Leading industrialist is supporting this initiative specifically for Martyrs’ family. FUEL donated Rs. 50,000 towards education of Martyr Lance Naik Hanumantappa Kopad’s daughter Netra today.

Sqn. Ldr. Shipra Sharma, Head, CSR and Sustainability, Larsen and Toubro Infotech also spoke to the gathering. Lastly, Ketan Deshpande, Chairman FUEL and Santosh Huralikoppi, Chief Mentor, FUEL conducted question answer session with guest speakers.

The conclave was attended by Directors and faculties of various MBA and Engineering college of North Karnataka along with around 800 students. The function organized at Dennisons Hotel started with lighting of Digital (LED) Lamps.
