Bangalore: Adobe announced that two students from Christel House, Bangalore and one student from Community Development Centre, Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh have been awarded Adobe Youth Voices scholarship.
The Adobe Youth Voices scholarship is granted to 25 students every year globally. Under this scholarship, the winners are entitled to receive monetary educational support of up to $2000 per annum for further studies. Scholarships are based on financial need, academic and overall performance and potential of an individual.
The Adobe Youth Voices program aims to ignite young people’s creative confidence and to promote the ability to harness creative skills to solve problems through the power of digital storytelling. This innovative program prepares young people to develop original multimedia artwork that highlights issues they care about, identifies solutions, and fosters critical creative skills and a passion to make a difference. Adobe Youth Voices Scholarships program has been developed to support the next generation of creative thinkers and advance the future careers of those who create.
Mr. Raju Shahani, Managing Director, Christel House India said, “This has been a milestone year, as the Adobe Foundation has selected three students from India to receive the Adobe Youth Voices Scholarship. Of course, we are especially pleased to note that two out of the three students are from our educational institution, which is very encouraging in view of our commitment to bringing pervasive changes to the lives of our students. We look forward to further nurturing the creative confidence of our students.”
One of the beneficiaries of this scholarship, Suresh, is the son of a plumber and whose mother is battling tuberculosis. Suresh is 19 years old and has been an active member of the Adobe Youth Voices program for six years. Today, he is able to continue his studies in computer science engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology in Mangalore with the financial aid of the Adobe Youth Voices scholarship.
In Suresh’s words, “Ever since I can remember, creating and designing has been my dream. I now aim to make it a reality. The ability to be different, to experiment with new things, to explore new avenues, to have the joy of actually being able to see my ideas being implemented and to unleash my creativity, are some of the reasons that draw me towards engineering. This has been reinforced after being a part of the Adobe Youth Voices programme, which encourages one to be adventurous and learn without boundaries. It was impossible for me to get a good education due to financial constraints. I am thankful to Christel House for the mentoring provided to me and Adobe Foundation for the generous educational aid.”
Moinuddin Shariff is the other student who got selected for the Adobe Youth Voices Scholarship from Christel House Bangalore. Moinuddin is a first generation student. Both his parents are uneducated and their joint monthly income barely meets their basic needs. Moinuddin says, “My ambition is to become a software engineer. I know that computers and technology are the way ahead in today’s world. I am fascinated by the possibilities one can explore; create and develop. The opportunities provided by Adobe Youth Voices have helped me pursue the study of my interest. ”
Manthan Charles from Community Development Centre, Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh is the third student who received the scholarship.
Suresh R and Moinuddin, along with the music teacher Thomas Joseph and Manthan Charles were invited to attend the Adobe Youth Voices Summit held at Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, CA, USA.
