HYDERABAD: Every second can make the difference between recovery and lifelong disability when it comes to brain emergencies. Recognising this, STAR Hospitals, Hyderabad has launched The STAR Centre for Brain Health – a dedicated Centre of Excellence that brings together advanced technology, experienced specialists, and round-the-clock emergency care under one roof.

The Centre was formally unveiled by the hospital’s leading neurosciences team during a special launch ceremony at Banjara Hills & Nanakramguda facilities. Guided by the philosophy “Every Second Counts. Every Story Matters,” the Centre has been created to provide timely, accurate, and compassionate care for patients with neurological conditions – from life-threatening emergencies such as stroke and traumatic brain injury to epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, memory disorders, and complex brain tumours.

Meeting the Growing Need for Brain Care

Brain and neurological disorders are becoming one of the leading causes of disability and death across the world. Yet, many of these conditions can have significantly better outcomes when diagnosed and treated early.

Stroke, for instance, remains one of the biggest neurological emergencies, with 1 in 4 adults at risk of experiencing a stroke during their lifetime. Treatments such as clot-busting medications and mechanical thrombectomy, when performed within the critical “golden hour”, can reduce the risk of permanent brain damage by as much as 80%, giving patients a far better chance of returning to independent lives.

At the same time, conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, epilepsy, and movement disorders are affecting an increasing number of families. Early diagnosis through dedicated memory and neurological clinics can help slow disease progression, preserve cognitive function, and improve quality of life.

The STAR Centre for Brain Health has been designed to address the entire spectrum of neurological care – from emergency interventions to long-term rehabilitation and preventive brain health. The focus extends beyond treating disease to helping patients regain independence, confidence, and dignity.

Expert Team Behind the STAR Centre for Brain Health

The STAR Centre for Brain Health is led by a highly experienced multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, and interventional radiologists who work together to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based brain and spine care. Through a collaborative approach, the team ensures that every patient benefits from personalised treatment plans backed by advanced technology and clinical expertise.

Neurology

  • Dr. Anitha Kotha
  • Dr. M. L. Neeharika
  • Dr. B. Santhosh Kumar
  • Dr. Syed Osman
  • Dr. Dushyanth Jasti

Neurosurgery

  • Dr. A. Ajay Reddy
  • Dr. Vishwak Sena Reddy P
  • Dr. M. Sundeep

Interventional Radiology

  • Dr. Venkateswarlu Jampala
  • Dr. Y. Gautham Reddy

Complex cases are reviewed through multidisciplinary clinical boards, where neurologists, neurosurgeons, interventional radiologists, and other specialists jointly evaluate every aspect of a patient’s condition before deciding the most appropriate treatment approach. This collaborative model ensures evidence-based, personalised care for every patient.

Advanced Technology for Greater Precision

The Centre combines expert clinical care with some of the most advanced neurological technologies available today.

Biplane Cath Lab Suite

Enables rapid, high-precision treatment for stroke, brain aneurysms, and other complex vascular conditions using advanced 3D imaging.

3 Tesla MRI with Functional Imaging

High-resolution MRI integrated with Functional MRI (fMRI) and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) helps surgeons accurately map critical brain functions before surgery, reducing the risk of neurological deficits.

Intraoperative Imaging & Neuromonitoring

Real-time imaging and continuous neurological monitoring during surgery allow surgeons to remove lesions with greater precision while preserving essential brain functions.

Dedicated Clinics Focused on Prevention and Early Diagnosis

The Centre also offers specialised outpatient clinics that focus on identifying neurological disorders at an early stage and preventing complications.

These include:

  • Stroke & Cerebrovascular Clinic
  • Comprehensive Epilepsy Clinic
  • Movement Disorders & Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Clinic
  • Memory & Cognitive Health Clinic

Setting a New Benchmark in Brain Care

With emergency stroke services, advanced neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, neuro-oncology, neuro-critical care, pulmonary support, psychiatry, and comprehensive neuro-rehabilitation integrated within a single ecosystem, The STAR Centre for Brain Health represents a significant step forward in neurological care for Hyderabad.

By bringing together expertise, cutting-edge technology, and a patient-first approach, STAR Hospitals aims to ensure that every patient receives the right treatment at the right time – because when it comes to the brain, every second truly matters.
