MUMBAI (India CSR): On the occasion of International Day of Climate Action 2025, Marico Limited reaffirmed its sustainability leadership through measurable climate action and long-term ESG goals. Speaking on this milestone, Amit Bhasin, Chief Legal Officer, Group General Counsel, and Secretary of the CSR Committee at Marico Limited, shared the company’s achievements and vision under its ESG 2030 Roadmap—a strategy launched in 2022 to integrate sustainability across its business ecosystem.
Marico Limited is one of India’s leading consumer goods companies operating in the beauty and wellness segment, with brands such as Parachute, Saffola, and Livon.
From Vision to Measurable Impact
Unveiled on June 5, 2022, marking the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day, Marico’s ESG 2030 Roadmap outlines a bold vision for sustainable growth. Between FY2019 and FY2025, the company successfully avoided nearly 30,150 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, reflecting its sustained focus on climate leadership and responsible growth.
“Anchored by our Sustainability Vision 2030, we are on track to achieve net-zero emissions in owned manufacturing operations in India by 2030, and globally by 2040, focusing on energy, packaging, logistics, and materials,” said Amit Bhasin.

Renewable Energy and Green Operations
Through an accelerated shift to renewable energy sources—including solar and hybrid power—Marico has avoided 9,660 tonnes of CO₂e emissions. These green energy transitions are central to Marico’s decarbonization journey and underline its commitment to reducing dependency on fossil fuels across manufacturing units.
Guided by its Sustainability Vision 2030, the company is driving environmental stewardship through innovation, operational excellence, and community partnerships.
Circular Packaging for Climate Impact
Marico’s innovative approach to packaging sustainability has avoided over 11,460 tonnes of CO₂e emissions. The company has implemented:
- Lightweight packaging designs,
- Use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, and
- Adoption of low-carbon alternatives.
These measures not only reduce environmental footprint but also promote a circular economy, demonstrating that packaging can be a key driver of climate action.
Sustainable Logistics and Material Innovation
By optimizing logistics networks—through route efficiency and a shift to cleaner transport modes—Marico successfully avoided 2,199 tonnes of CO₂e emissions.
In parallel, science-led material substitution, particularly in value-added hair oils, resulted in a further 6,831 tonnes of CO₂e reduction. These collective actions signify the brand’s comprehensive strategy to mitigate emissions across its supply chain.
Water Stewardship through Project Jalashay
Beyond carbon reduction, Marico’s focus on water security is evident through its flagship program ‘Jalashay’, launched in partnership with the Ambuja Foundation.
Active in the drought-prone regions of Sanand and Viramgam (Ahmedabad district), Jalashay aims to:
- Rejuvenate local water bodies,
- Construct water harvesting structures, and
- Generate 10 crore litres of water potential by FY2026.
The initiative is strengthening irrigation systems and improving groundwater recharge—enhancing the resilience of local farming communities.
“At Marico, we believe that growth and decarbonization must go hand in hand. As we continue to expand renewable energy, improve circular packaging, optimize supply chains, and promote sustainable sourcing, we remain steadfast in building a carbon-neutral, climate-resilient, and sustainable future for the planet and the communities we serve,” Mr. Bhasin emphasized.
