KORBA (Chhattisgarh): In an effort to provide self employment for the rural poor unemployed women and girls of nearby villages, under the aegis of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Sipat Super Thermal Power Project of NTPC Limited kick start the second batch training programme on “Stitching and Embroidering” on 13 March 2013. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Y V Rao, Executive Director, NTPC Sipat and President, Sangwari Mahila Samiti Smt Y. Padma along with Shri J V N Rao, GM (O & M) and other senior officials.
Speaking on this occasion Shri Y V Rao, stressed on to carry out value based CSR work for benefit of surrounding people. Three batches each consisting of 20 ladies and girls will be trained at centres of village Sipat, Jangi and Kaudia. Earlier in the first batch 40 ladies, of Sipat and Jangi centre was provided training facilities and after successful completion sewing machine provided to earn their livelihood by utilizing their training skills.
After successful completion of first batch NTPC management realises the need for expanding the programme to empower more and more under privileged women of far flung villages by making them trained for their financial security. And NTPC Sipat management opens one more centre at village Kaudia, where first batch has started to function to train 20 more women. Shri Y V Rao, Executive Director, NTPC Sipat and Smt Y Padma, President, Sangwari Mahila Samiti inaugurates the centres with ribbon cutting and distributed the training kit to participants.
Sipat Super Thermal Power Project, the most sophisticated plant of NTPC Limited, having an installed capacity of 2980 mega watt, generating power with environment friendly Super Critical Technology. Besides power production it carried out a sleuth of CSR program for peripheral development. Apart from self employment programme NTPC Sipat runs computer training program for unemployed youth, working on health, education, drinking water, infrastructure and welfare of weaker sections.
