Indian Premier League is a men’s T20 Cricket League held annually between March and May. The IPL was founded in 2007 by the BCCI (The Board of Control for Cricket in India). The state focuses on ten states or cities based on the franchise teams. It has the most attractive cricket leagues in the world, attracting players from all over the globe, and this is how the IPL franchise earns money.

Let’s explore this more through this blog, where I have shared the history of the IPL team in Cricket.

When and how was the Indian Premier League Formed?

The Indian Premier League was formed in 2007 by the BCCI. The idea for the league was formed by Lalit Modi, who was the vice president at that time. He had a significant role in the establishment of the IPL. Inspired by the success of the other leagues, Lalit Modi strategized the Idea of establishing the IPL.

With the motive of evoking both sports and entertainment simultaneously, Lalit Modi decided to launch the IPL. Thus, he presented his proposal to the BCCI, after which the BCCI agreed to its execution.

It was officially announced in New Delhi on September 13, 2007. It was based on a franchise model representing different cities and targeted private entities or other businesses and corporations. Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Jaipur, Mohali, and Bangalore are participating franchising cities. The league also conducted several award shows, like IPL winners of the season, IPL orange cap winners, IPL purple cap winners, etc.
