In an interview with Rusen Kumar, India CSR; Madhav Sheth, CEO realme India, VP, realme and President, realme International Business Group shared his views on how his company is doing well for social development in India. Excerpts of an interview:
Can you share the details of this association.
In the past four years, realme has not just disrupted the entire smartphone and technology market with its constant innovation but has also continuously contributed to society. In continuation to the current efforts to support the people of India, realme announced its support to SOS Children’s Village of India to brighten-up Diwali for children associated with the NGO. realme Techlife Air Purifiers, realme Pad Mini and realme Buds Wireless were provided for the NGO’s Basket of Care Solutions programme.
The initiative is in line with realme’s commitment of making quality technology experiences accessible to the youth and with the donation the brand is ensuring that the children at the NGO get access to quality indoor air and immersive educational experience.
What is the CSR Philosophy of realme in India?
As a brand realme is committed to helping society and working towards the greater good with a firm belief that good health and education have a multiplier effect on improving various aspects of life, be it enabling gender equality, getting better jobs, or eradicating hunger. It has used technology in a meaningful way to accelerate India’s digitization efforts and empower people, and its products are a testimony of this approach. All of the realme products are designed to enable and enhance seamless tech experience and well-being of people at large. In the future, realme aims to make technology more accessible to people which will help them achieve more.
In this short stint of four years, realme has already made various efforts towards societal good. During the pandemic, the company collaborated with Zomato for its ‘India Needs Oxygen’ initiative and donated oxygen concentrators and related supplies that could cater to 350 patients daily. realme also donated oxygen amounting to 3000 liters to Hemkunt Foundation and distributed over 1 lakh masks via its mainline stores.
How do you see technology and your brand playing a role in the empowerment of the youth?
realme is a youth driven brand and understands the aspirations and ambitions of Indian youth. It has committed itself towards democratizing technology for the young generation by making a smart and connected TechLife ecosystem consisting of hearables, wearables, Smart TVs, tablets and laptops accessible to them. The first smartphone brand to launch a 5G smartphone in 2020, today realme has 23 5G smartphones in its portfolio which has empowered more than five million users in India.
As it enters the second phase of growth, globally, it is also increasing investment in R&D by 58% year-over-year to advance the brand’s objective of making essential tech innovations more accessible. Besides bringing products with strong performance and trending designs, realme has also contributed to various spheres starting from music to fashion that revolves around the interests of the young generation.
True to Dare to Leap spirit, realme strives to come with more frontier and groundbreaking technology to empower youth. In just four years of its inception, realme has achieved several milestones and stands tall as the second largest smartphone brand in the country. Out of the total 150 million global users, 70 million are in India, helping realme emerge as one of the most trusted brands in the country.
