NEW DELHI: As we’re all aware that Water is the foundation of food and life. Next to air, water is our most precious resource. Of the total water existing on our planet, only 3% is fresh water, out of which only 1% is available for drinking water and the balance 2% is inaccessible as it has locked in the form of ice caps and glaciers.
With only 1% of water available for human consumption, we must all recognize that water conservation really is our personal responsibility and not just leave it up to other people. We all have many ways that we use water, so why not do our part in conserving Water?
Jal Star Awards is an initiative by Dainik Bhaskar from the past few years to honor, recognize and motivate the individuals, groups, organizations who have played a significant role in saving and conserving ground water and became a role model for society.

Dainik Bhaskar has been organizing state-wise Jal Star Awards to honor, recognize and motivate all the individuals and groups who played a significant role in the in saving and conserving ground water. The awards were distributed on the occasion of World Water Day on 22 March 2012. The initiative was executed in major states of Dainik Bhaskar such as:
Madhya Pradesh
Chhattisgarh
Rajasthan
Jharkhand
Gujarat
Maharashtra
Chandigarh
Punjab
Haryana
Participants registered their efforts and technologies they had adopted to save water and also encouraged other people also to join hands with them in saving water. State wise awards were distributed for the efforts; top 3 entries and 10 best entries were awarded.
