NEW DELHI: Forty four meritorious needy students in Goa will now be able to pursue higher professional studies through the Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarship program.
The scholarship was awarded to the selected scholarship candidates, at the hands of Chief Minister of Goa- Dr. Pramod Sawant in presence of Saliya Gawas, Sarpanch, Amona Village, Namrata Gawas, Sarpanch Navelim Village, Panch members of Amona & Navelim Village Panchayat, Headmaster of Govt. High School (GHS) Amona, Govind Naik & Headmistress of Navelim GHS, Vidhya Naik, N.L. Vhatte, Director, Vedanta VAB, Saptesh Sardesai, COO, Met Coke & Power Business, Vedanta VAB and other dignitaries.
Goa Chief Minister, commended Vedanta’s community development programs and urged students to take maximum benefit of this scholarship scheme to achieve greater career heights.
Speaking at the Scholarship award ceremony Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa said, “I congratulate all the students who could achieve this scholarship through their hard work. I am extremely pleased to see Vedanta consistently making efforts to help people in need through various community outreach programs. Through this initiative of Utkarsh Scholarship Scheme Vedanta has exhibited its endeavor towards a bright nation building. In this highly competitive world which is full of opportunities for the candidates with the right skill sets, it is very important to work hard & pursue higher quality education. I urge people of Goa to utilize maximum benefits of various other Govt. scholarship schemes.”
Apart from students selected for the scholarship program, Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business also felicitated the top three meritorious students from Govt. High school (GHS), Amona and GHS, Navelim each, under the Utkarsh Scholarship Scheme. Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarship is awarded to those shortlisted students who are from economically weaker background, meritorious and have performed well in the academics in the last three years including extra-curricular activities. Finally, they are evaluated and selected based on one on one interviews. The aim of the program is to support the local talents to overcome the financial hurdles and pursue higher studies, which could help them to secure a brighter career in the long run.
