ANGUL (Odisha): The 11th Punyatithi (Death Anniversary) of visionary and founder of OP Jindal Group – Om Prakash Jindal was observed in various locations of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) in Odisha with a series of philanthropic activities today.
JSPL’s Bhubaneswar Office remembered its Founder Shri OP Jindal. Executive Director and Group Head Manish Kharbanda paid floral tribute to Shri Jindal along with EVP & Group Head (CSR) – Prashant Kumar Hota and other officials. “Sri OP Jindal is one of the Pioneers in steering Industry led development in the Country, who left no stone unturned, to pursue inclusive development through entrepreneurship. His focus for mass and school education will remain as models of Social developments pioneered by Industrial houses”. Children in Mission Ashra in the vicinity of Bhubaneswar were served food packets.
At Angul, the programme started with floral tribute to OP Jindal by Executive Director and Location Head of JSPL, Angul Unit – DK Saraogi and President of Jindal Mahila Samiti Sujata Saraogi.
They also inaugurated a blood donation camps organised in memory of OP Jindal at the Occupational Health Centre and Phase 1B Office of JSPL. Total 215 persons donated blood in these two camps. A 24 hour long Ram Charita Manas recital programme was also organised in the township with participation of employees and their family members.
Remembering the founder of OP Jindal Group, Saraogi said, “Shri Om Prakash Jindal Ji will always be a role model for Indian Industrial Houses. His focus for nation building through industrialization and skill development of youth will always be remembered. He is a real hero, who became one of the leading industrialists of the country from a very humble beginning and continued to work for the downtrodden”.
District Blood Bank Officer Dr. Biswajeet Samal along with Social Worker and Social Worker Subodh Mishra; Chief Medical Officer of JSPL Dr. B.K Das; DGM (CSR) Pushpalata Satpathy; Manager (CSR) Satya Ranjan Mishra and other CSR, IR and Medical staff and volunteers of JSPL coordinated the blood donation camps. On this occasion, Jindal Mahila Samiti led by Sujata Saraogi distributed food items at Nakula Chandra Deaf and Dumb Blind School at Balramprasad, Talcher and SishuGruha at Angul.
At Barbil, TS Shanbhogue, Head of Barbil Unit offered floral tribute to OP Jindal along with other employees. Fruits were distributed among patients in Basudevpur Hospital in memory of Jindal. At Tensa Unit Head Y Nagendra led the employees in offering floral tribute to the Founder. Total 360 sets of study materials and food packets were distributed among children of schools in three villages.
OP Jindal is not only known as a business leader and industrialist of India, but also he is famous for his social service activities. He was serving as a Minister of Power in the Government of Haryana at the time of his death. He has also a Member of Parliament to 11th Lok Sabha. He has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Steel Industry by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
