JAMSHEDPUR: The Jamshedpur regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012 witnessed one of the most exciting and enthralling battle of wits on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Rabindra Bhavan. After a gruelling and close contest, the team from XLRI, Jamshedpur comprising of Ankit Suman and Dipanjan Deb edged out the runners-up team comprising of Mrityunjay and Ulaganath again from XLRI, Jamshedpur to make it to the national finals to be held in Mumbai on April 8, 2012.

The chief guest Mr P Senthil Kumar, Chief Human Resource Officer, Tata Steel Limited felicitated the winners with a cash prize of Rs 75,000. The winning team from Jamshedpur will now compete with the regional winners from across the 23 other cities, where the quiz is being organised. The runners-up team were awarded a cash prize of Rs 35,000.

India CSRThe Jamshedpur regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012 saw participation from approximately ninety teams from innumerable colleges at the preliminary rounds. Out of the top six teams who qualified for the regional stage rounds three were from XLRI- Jamshedpur, the rest from NIT Rourkella, NIT Jamshedpur and BIT- Mesra. While two of the teams in the final round from XLRI, Jamshedpur were selected through the wild card entry, the rest were selected based on their scores.

Tata Crucible Campus Quiz is known for producing new innovations in its quiz format to keep the contestants and audience on their toes, and this year was no different. The quiz was hosted by ace quizmaster Mr Giri Balasubramaniam a.k.a. Pickbrain who through his distinctive style got the best out of the contestants and kept the audience captivated with the high-voltage action on stage.

On winning the regional round at Jamshedpur an elated Dipanjan Deb and Ankit Suman, who had also participated at the national finals last year, representing XLRI, Jamshedpur said, “This year we have geared up with an extra effort to face and win the finals at the national level. From here we look forward to work hard and materialize our dreams.”

Complementing the quizzing talent and knowledge of the young participants of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012, Mr Senthil Kumar said, “One should never let go of one’s goal in life, nor leave any stone unturned to materialize that goal. With efficient use of time and energy, one is sure to become successful in life.”

After Jamshedpur, the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012 will now move on to Nagpur (23rd Feb), Trichy (25th Feb), Coimbatore (26th Feb), Hyderabad (28th Feb), Bhubaneswar (1st Mar), Bangalore (3rd Mar), Chennai (4th Mar), Manipal (6th Mar), Cochin (9th Mar), Amritsar (13th Mar), Chandigarh (14th Mar), Rohtak (15th Mar), Guwahati (18th Mar), Jaipur (20th Mar), Goa (23rd Mar), Mumbai (24th Mar), Pune (25th Mar), Indore (27th Mar), Ahmedabad (29th Mar), Delhi (31st Mar), Lucknow (1st Apr), Patna (2nd Apr) and Kolkata (6th Apr).

To add to the excitement and scale of the event, there will be a mega International Final in Mumbai wherein the winners and runners-up from the national finals will compete with the winners and runners-up of the UK and Singapore editions, held earlier this financial year, for the coveted title of International Champions.
