500 saplings planted; PUC camps held at 26 dealerships across various metro cities

NEW DELHI: India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM) on Friday celebrated the World Environment Day by launching a massive plantation drive in and around its plant area in Surajpur. All the employees along with the senior management took the pledge to protect the environment and make eco-friendly choices to contribute to a greener world. This year’s theme for the World Environment Day is ‘Sustainable Consumption and Production’ with the supporting slogan ‘Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care.’
Yamaha also organized several activities in its Surajpur plant to create awareness among the employees. “In line with core corporate responsibility of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd, Japan (YMC), we practice corporate values through our commitment to grow in a socially and environmentally responsible way. As a responsible corporate, we have always laid emphasis on care for the Environment and our belief, ‘Yamaha, In Harmony with Nature’ itself signifies commitment of our organization towards environment. The tree-plantation drive and the internal promotional campaigns are part of our commitment towards the environment.” said Yury Panteleev, Senior Vice President, Yamaha Motor India.
On this occasion, the employees were distributed the environment day badges and took part in the signature campaign & demonstrate their commitment towards environment conservation. Poster making and quiz competitions were also among the several activities which were held to create awareness among the employees. Over 5,000 Tulsi saplings were distributed to the employees as it is considered beneficial for the environment.

In addition to this, PUC camps were held across company’s 26 dealerships across various cities including Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata etc. Tulsi saplings were also distributed to customers who visited the dealerships on the day.
The company’s SJP plant also collaborated with the 39th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP, Lakhnawali Camp, Surajpur) for the tree plantation and over 500 saplings were planted at the ITBP campus. A signature campaign was also initiated at the ITBP campus where the officials from both the organizations expressed their commitment towards a cleaner and greener environment.
Yamaha encourages optimum usage of limited resources and does take innovative and effective measures to meet the objectives of Sustainable Development. The principle of Reduce, Reuse & Recycle of resources are adopted and is evident at Yamaha to promote sustainable development, consumption and production.
World Environment Day is observed every year on June 5 to promote awareness on the importance of preserving our biodiversity. It also aims to identify issues related to environment and serve as a strong and effective platform in protecting the environment and finding solutions for a sustainable living.
