NEW DELHI (India CSR): In observance of World Environment Day 2025 and in alignment with this year’s global theme, “Ending Plastic Pollution”, Bisleri International launched a series of far-reaching initiatives that bring together communities, institutions, and thought leaders to tackle the challenge of plastic waste. Reaffirming that environmental stewardship is a collective responsibility, the company initiated multiple campaigns across the North Indian region.
The cornerstone of Bisleri’s efforts in the region this year is its partnership with Atulya Ganga Trust (AGT) for an ambitious plastic eradication campaign along the sacred stretch from Gangotri to Harsil in Uttarakhand. Scheduled between June 5 and 7, the initiative unites Indian Army veterans, youth volunteers, civil society members, and environmental groups to protect and restore the ecological sanctity of the River Ganga.
The event was graced by Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Central Command, along with dignitaries from the state government and the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. With support from the Uttarakhand administration, the Border Roads Organisation, the campaign focused on collecting and managing plastic waste while educating communities on embracing responsible plastic use.
K. Ganesh, Director – Sustainability & Corporate Affairs, Bisleri International, said, “The World Environment Day is an important occasion that raises awareness and highlights solutions to address the climate crisis. This year’s theme ‘Ending Global Plastic Pollution’, strongly resonates with our flagship initiative, Bottles for Change. With our targeted campaigns across regions, we have meaningfully engaged communities and partnered with institutions to spread awareness about plastic pollution and demonstrate the power of citizen collectives in creating immediate, on-ground impact.”
Bisleri recently participated in the National Expo on Alternatives to Banned Single-Use Plastics and a conference organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at Bharat Mandapam, where it showcased its community-driven plastic waste management solutions combining behavioral change and recycling infrastructure.
On May 28, Bisleri partnered with the National Zoological Park in New Delhi for a week-long summer camp and cleanliness drive, in collaboration with the National Museum of Natural History and WWF India. Activities included workshops, plogging drives, and awareness sessions involving campers, visitors, and officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and CPCB.
In the lead-up to World Environment Day, Bisleri spearheaded sustainability efforts across Gujarat and Rajasthan. In Gujarat, initiatives included planting over 100 saplings across five villages, educational sessions, plastic collection drives, and the inauguration of a Medicinal Park at Vastral Cantonment in Ahmedabad. In Rajasthan, awareness events were conducted at Rambagh Palace, Jaipur Railway Junction, and a military station, involving children, defence personnel, and the public. Nagar Nigam Heritage collaborated with Bottles for Change for city-wide programs, with expansion plans via summer camps led by Rajasthan Bharat Scout and Guide.
These efforts are part of Bisleri’s ongoing Bottles for Change initiative, which has educated over 6.2 million people nationwide on plastic segregation and recycling, reinforcing its commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable India.
