Raigarh: Environment Day 2011 was observed with great fun and purpose on 5th June 2011 by environment management department at Raigarh. From the week starting from 1st June a variety of environment awareness programmes were held within the plant, Mines, colony and surrounding villages.
Drawing, Slogan and Quiz competition was held in over 10 villages viz Chiraipani, Kosampali, Kirodimal Nagar, Patrapali, Khamharia, Amgaon, Sarasmal, Saraitola, Gare etc.
In each village, hundreds of children participated in the competitions and expressed their thoughts on “Environment Conservation”. Local village heads and school authorities/teachers eagerly presided over these functions and welcomed the initiative of the company.
The United Nations Environment Day theme – “Forest: Nature at your Service” was widely advertised and communicated across the company and society through variety of interactive programmes including ladies, staff and children. Environment Quiz competition on the lines of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ on 3rd and 4th June for colony ladies and employees was a great click.
On 5th June early morning an Environmental rally under the leadership of Shri. NA Ansari, ED-Raigarh was held in which senior management officials, over 400 hundred staff members, ladies and children participated. The group merrily walked the 3 KM distance reciting environment slogans. At end of rally tree plantation was done by senior officials of JSPL.
Prizes to winners of week long activities were given at the end of the rally. An environmental song on this year’s UN theme was sung by EMD team, which won the appreciation of the audience. Executive Director Shri. NA Ansari in his speech emphasized the importance of bio-diversity and the need to preserve it to desist from destruction.
