Sustainability Drive in Full Swing at Axis House, Mumbai
Axis Bank, a leader in India’s banking sector, has made significant progress in water conservation at its main office, Axis House in Mumbai. The bank’s sustainable measures include a daily recycling capacity of 150 kiloliters (KL) of water through a sewage treatment plant, along with a yearly rainwater harvesting capacity of approximately 2,000 KL.
Water is Life: The Recycle and Reuse Initiative
The bank has installed an advanced sewage treatment plant at Axis House, demonstrating its commitment to water conservation and sustainable operations. This facility allows the bank to recycle up to 150 KL of water daily, minimizing the building’s dependency on municipal water supply and thereby reducing its environmental footprint.
Every Drop Counts: The Rainwater Harvesting Initiative
In addition to its recycling efforts, Axis Bank has also implemented a rainwater harvesting system at Axis House. This system is designed to capture and store approximately 2,000 KL of rainwater annually, providing a substantial supplement to the building’s water supply. The harvested rainwater can be used for various non-potable purposes, reducing the need for treated water and further contributing to the bank’s water conservation efforts.
Sustainable Facilities: Sensors and Bio-Blocks
Axis Bank is continuously exploring ways to optimize water usage and minimize waste. At selected large offices, the bank has installed sensors and bio-blocks in urinals, which reduce the amount of water used in each flush. This initiative not only saves water but also promotes better hygiene standards in the bank’s facilities.
These comprehensive water management initiatives by Axis Bank underscore its commitment to sustainable business practices. By actively reducing water consumption and reusing water resources, the bank is leading by example in the drive towards a sustainable and resilient future.
