Bengaluru: VMware Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a leading innovator in enterprise software, today announced its two new campuses in Bengaluru and Pune have been awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) Platinum level certifications – the highest LEED rating for green buildings in the world.
The innovative campus projects in Bengaluru and Pune are part ofVMware’spreviously announced US$2 billion investments in India between 2018 and 2023. These new campuses, along with the existing offices, will house the lion’s share of VMware’s India-based R&D, support, and sales operations – second in size and scale only to those at VMware headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
The LEED Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recognizes the organization’s efforts toward implementing practical and measurable sustainable strategies and solutions for the built environment.VMware’s 2030 Agenda is a decade long ESG commitment and call to action to foster a more sustainable, equitable and secure world. VMware is committed to advancing sustainability, equity and trust by embedding ESG into everything it does–throughout its technology strategy, business model and culture. The campus in Global Technology Park, Bengaluru, has obtained an LEED-CI v4 Platinum rating with 82 points located in the heart of outer ring road, and VMware’s Pune campus in Panchshil Business Park has scored 80 points. USGBC evaluated VMware facilities based on several parameters such as energy consumption for lighting, cooling and IT load, water consumption, renewable energy, indoor air quality, connectivity to sustainable transport, emphasis on employee experience along with a careful choice of materials and innovative design.
The upcoming new Bengaluru office premises are designed with energy efficient HVAC and lighting systems, waste management measures, use of sustainably certified materials with high recycled content, an integrated water management system that includes low flow fixtures for reductions in potable water usage by 40 percent, the reuse of water from sewage treatment plants for domestic flushing and landscape uses and water metering per floor to track usage. 85 percent of the electricity used is generated by wind.
