JHARSUGUDA: Vedanta felicitated all the successful students who were enrolled under its flagship CSR educational programme ‘Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikas Yojana’ (VVVY) and have passed this year’s matriculation exam .
In a convocation ceremony held here at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jharsuguda present during the occasion were Jyoti Ranjan Pradhan, Project Director, DRDA, Jharsuguda, Bikash Chandra Pradhan, District Education Officer, Jharsuguda, Biswa Ranjan Patnaik, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Jharsuguda,Sanjeev Patnaik, Head PR, Vedanta Jharsuguda, Nishant Kumar, Head CSR, Vedanta, Jharsuguda and Goutam Behera, Chief Functionary, AJKA.
The programme was ceremoniously inaugurated with lighting of the sacred lamp by the Chief Guest Pradhan. Congratulating the students on their achievement Mr. Pradhan applauded the efforts of Vedanta for its significant contributing to the improved educational performance of the peripheral area and urged the successful students to make the best out of their life.
Speaking during the occasion, Patnaik form Vedanta highlighted on the various sustainable CSR projects undertaken by Vedanta in the periphery that have been steadily delivering upon the promises. He appreciated the students and the AJKA team for their tireless efforts in scripting success in this year’s matriculation exam. All the successful students of the programme were awarded during the occasion.
It is worth mentioning that Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikas Yojana is a visionary CSR project that is being implemented by Vedanta in its ten core peripheral villages, with an objective to improve the quality of the education, moral standards and reduce the drop out rate of the Secondary school students from standard 8th to 10th by providing supplementary and remedial Teaching.
The project with NGO partner, AJKA by formulating quality parameter and indicators with specialized systematic Class module. As a result of these dedicated intervention and robust strategies, this year 92 students passed from 100 students with 22 first class awardees.
Five centres such as Katikela, Banjari, Debadihi, Gudigaon and Sripura achieved 100% result in the exam. Nikhil Choudhury, a student from Purna center topped with 81%, who gave all credit of his success to this project and his parents.
In this project, apart from regular morning classes, parents’ teachers meeting, orientation of students, life skill education to students, monthly unit test are being conducted with defined indicators and deliverables.
Also present during the occasion were more than 150 Students, Parents, Teachers, Community Representatives, Members of AJKA team and Senior officials of Vedanta. The program is a unique educational support initiative which is well accepted, acknowledged and endorsed by the community over the years.
