BALODABAZAR (Chhattisgarh): An industrial incident at Ambuja Cement’s plant in Balodabazar district of Chhattisgarh, has claimed the lives of its 2 factory workers.
Last Saturday, two labourers were killed in an accident at Ambuja Cement plant in its Rawan works near Baladabazar in Chhattisgarh, police informed.
Ambuja Cements Ltd, is a part of the global conglomerate LafargeHolcim, one of the leading cement companies in India. Rawan works having Integrated Cement Plant with Clinker production capacity, Captive Power Plant at Village Rawan at Balodabazar-Bhatapara.
“Investigation is going on and FIR to be lodged against the management.”, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district R.N. Dash informed India CSR Network today.
Two of the workers identified as Dhirendra Verma (38) and Dilip Kumar Verma (27) came in contact with the machine leaving them critically injured while three others managed to escape, he added.
The incident took place at around 4.30 pm in the raw mill section of Cement plant when trial of the crushing machine was underway, a police official said.
After some maintenance work in the raw material section, atleast five labourers had went inside to examination when suddenly the crushing machine started operating, he said.
The injured were immediately rushed to a local hospital of the company from where they were being shifted to Raipur during which they succumbed to the injuries, he added.
