NEW DELHI (India CSR): The Mosaic Company (“Mosaic”), The Mosaic Company Foundation for Sustainable Food Systems (“The Foundation”) and the S M Sehgal Foundation (“Sehgal Foundation”) celebrated the tenth annual presentation of awards honoring outstanding research in plant nutrition at a ceremony on April 1, 2025 at Le Meridien, Gurugram, Haryana. The Mosaic Company Foundation for Sustainable Food Systems Awards for Plant Nutrition Research.

Recognizing Scientific Excellence

The awards recognize outstanding contributions in scientific research, outreach, and innovation in plant nutrition that are essential to inspire continuous advancements in the development of sustainable food systems.

Doctoral Research Award

The Outstanding Doctoral Research Award is presented to individuals who demonstrate exceptional ability and originality of thought for contributions to the field of plant nutrition.

Young Scientist Recognition

The Young Scientist Award recognizes outstanding research, innovation, and outreach in plant nutrition. Additionally, this Award builds linkages within the scientific community associated with the promotion of balanced use of plant nutrients.

Awardees and Honors

This year’s awardees in the area of plant nutrition, Dr. Abhilasha Tripathi (Outstanding Doctoral Research Award for Women), Dr. Dibyendu Chatterjee (Young Scientist Award), and Dr. Sandeep Bedwal (Outstanding Doctoral Research Award), received a certificate, gold medal, and blazer with a monetary award.

Chief Guest Address

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Chairperson, Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPVFRA) and Former Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, and Director General, ICAR, graced the awards function as the Chief Guest. Recognizing the tenth anniversary of the awards, the chief guest congratulated current and past winners and this novel initiative of promoting research in plant nutrition.

Keynote Speakers

The keynote addresses were given by Mr. Bruce Bodine, President and CEO, The Mosaic Company and Ms. Jenny Wang, Executive Vice President – Commercial, The Mosaic Company; Mr. Ben Pratt, Vice President, Public Affairs, The Mosaic Company and President of The Mosaic Company Foundation for Sustainable Food Systems; and Dr. J. C. Katyal, Former Vice Chancellor, HAU, Hisar.

Mosaic India’s Vision

Robin Edwin, Managing Director, Mosaic India Pvt. Ltd. shared, “It is an honor for Mosaic and The Foundation to partner in our shared vision to help the world grow the food it needs by recognizing the agricultural scientists who have made exceptional contributions to the field of plant nutrition. I congratulate our eminent jury for leading this rigorous process of selecting outstanding doctoral research and young scientists.”

Food Security Challenge

Bruce Bodine, President and CEO of Mosaic said, “Food security is the defining challenge of our time. More than ever, we need innovators – like the researchers and scientists recognized today – to solve tough challenges through technologies and practices that help feed the world sustainably.

Sustainable Agriculture Commitment

Anjali Makhija, Trustee and CEO, S M Sehgal Foundation spoke about ‘Krishi Jyoti’, the long-standing partnership of The Mosaic Company Foundation for Sustainable Food Systems and S M Sehgal Foundation, which is impacting the lives of nearly 800,000 rural people in 273 villages across seven states. She further shared that the awards are a testimony of the commitment these organizations have for sustainable agriculture and community development. 

Ceremony Attendance

The ceremony was attended by the invited members from the scientific agricultural community such as the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Indian Institute of Soil Science, National Research Centres, State Agricultural Universities, Fertilizer Association of India, International Zinc Association, CIMMYT; government officials and other national and international institute’s representatives.
