HYDERABAD: TCI Foundation, the social organization of Transport Corporation of India Limited, was awarded with CSR excellence award jointly by Indywood and the Government of Telangana at a glittering ceremony held today at Ramooji Film City Hyderabad. TCI Foundation received the award for Best CSR Campaign Preventive Healthcare. The award was received by Dr Munish Chander Head TCI Foundation.
Speaking on receiving the award, Dr. Munish said, that since the year 2003, when project Kavach was launched as a preventive measure to control HIV infection among long distance truck drivers and helpers, more than 16 million truckers have been benefited from TCI Foundation Healthcare Centres situated across India. The Foundation works jointly with Governments and has set a legacy for other corporates to join hands to do the best for the trucker fraternity in India. The truckers are the backbone of any industry but are also potent carrier of HIV infection from one part of the country to other. It is moral responsibility of corporates to extend their CSR effort for the better life of truckers and helpers, as this is one of the neglected profession in India, which requires immediate attention of the industry as well as government.
