MUMBAI: Tata Power has always been a pioneer in engaging with its communities for their holistic development. In line with this philosophy, Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) has undertaken several initiatives to empower the women community at the power plant sites of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL).
These initiatives are aimed to empower the woman population of the region and were collectively celebrated as ‘Women Empowerment Week’, recognizing the contributions of Smt. Savithrimai Phule in Girl’s Education and empowering the women community.
While celebrating the ‘Women Empowerment Week’, TPCDT inaugurated ‘Tailoring Training Centres’ in Palsawade, Devapur and Devnal villages near TPREL power plants. It further collaborated with ‘Manav Vikas Prastishthan’ for the inauguration of the Tailoring Training Centres. The training unit will benefit more than 125 women across two locations of Palsawade Solar plant and Jath wind farm.
Further, an e-learning unit was also inaugurated at Valsang ZP School, Valsang, near TPREL’s wind/solar power plant. The centre was inaugurated by the local Sarpanch along with members of the school management committee. Special aptitude tests, career guidance and counselling was organized by the centre for the women force of the region, which was also attended by the TPREL staff.

The initiatives undertaken by Tata Power Community Development Trust on behalf of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited have further reinforced our commitment towards the development and growth of our communities. The celebration of the ‘Women Empowerment Week’ is our tribute to Smt. Savithrimai Phule. We would further engage with our communities and would work closely with them especially for the development of the girl child and empowerment of the women population in the region.”
The Tailoring Training Centre was inaugurated in the presence of Mrs. Mane, Tahsildar Mann Taluka, along with Grampanchayat Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch from Devapur, Palsawade and Shirtav and Grampanchayat members. The presence of local government staff and girl students of the vicinity also added enthusiasm to the occasion. The inauguration was also witnessed by senior managers from TPREL and team members from TPCDT, who encouraged the women populace of the community and spoke on the various CSR initiatives undertaken by Tata Power in the region.
TPCDT has constantly engaged with TPREL in carrying out the CSR initiatives in the region. The initiatives, ranging from watershed management activities, drinking water initiatives, vocational trainings to rural youth, good governance program, e-learning education facility to rural students, solar street lights, solar pump for public well to provide drinking water and campaigns on the Swach Bharat Abhiyan, save the girl child, save the trees – save the earth, have helped in improving the lives of its communities. TPREL will strive further in engaging with its communities and aim for the holistic development of the region.
