Tata Power launches PAN India cleanliness drive under its Greenolution initiative

Sensitizes over 2000 people on the benefits of green living across 6 cities~

Mumbai: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power Company has always been steadfast in its commitment towards various aspects of resource conservation and energy efficiency, including reduction of its carbon footprint, renewable power generation while encouraging biodiversity and green buildings. In line with this philosophy, the Company today celebrated the extensive success of its nationwide cleanliness drive as a thrust for a clean, green India under its “Greenolution initiative.”

A PAN India initiative, cleanliness drives were carried out in 6 cities, including Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Mundra, Haldia, Jojobera and Dhanbad. More than 600 Tata Power employees participated in the cleanliness drive and sensitized over 2000 people to adopt a ‘green approach’ as an integral part of their day to day life and be responsible citizens towards society and the environment. Greenolution is a Tata Power Connect initiative that is participative in approach and encourages all stakeholders & public at large to be a part of it. It promotes conservation of environment for a greener tomorrow.

Commenting on the success of the campaign, Mr Anil Sardana, Managing Director- Tata Power said, “We, at Tata Power are aligned to the vision of our founder Mr. Jamshetji Tata and believe that sustainable growth and development are imperative in developing economy like India. Our strategies are aligned towards Sustainability and are in tune with our commitment to ‘responsible growth’, demonstrated by our focus on producing clean and green power. These small steps taken by us today will reap greater results tomorrow, thus helping our ecosystem for the coming generations. The hard work put in by Tata Power employees and volunteers is commendable and demonstrates their commitment towards this Green cause.”

The sustainability model at Tata Power focuses on four key elements – Care for Environment, Care for Community, Care for Customers, and Care for People. The Company practices the mantra of 3R – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and encourages its employees to contribute their green opinions. Tata Power was recently honoured as the winner of the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2012 which recognizes companies which have successfully instituted sustainability in their business element.
