Despite financial challenges, Tata Motors spent Rs. 21.59 crore on CSR in FY 2023-24, reaching over one million underserved community members across India.

NEW DELHI (India CSR): In a year marked by financial challenges, Tata Motors Limited demonstrated an exceptional commitment to Corporate social responsibility (CSR). Although not mandated by Section 135 of the Companies Act due to previous losses, the automotive giant voluntarily contributed Rs. 21.59 crore to various CSR initiatives. This commitment underscores Tata Motors’ dedication to nurturing ongoing community projects and societal advancement.

Strategic Focus and Impact

  • Robust CSR Framework: Tata Motors’ CSR activities are steered by a dedicated CSR Committee that formulates and oversees the execution of the CSR policies. This committee ensures that every penny allocated is aligned with the company’s core values and commitment towards societal contributions.
  • Comprehensive Beneficiary Outreach: In the fiscal year 2023-24, Tata Motors managed to extend its reach to over one million people, specifically targeting underserved communities across India. The strategy of ‘More for Less for More’ played a crucial role in maximizing the impact of their CSR initiatives with limited resources.

Education and Skilling: Tata Motors has been proactive in enhancing educational facilities and providing vocational training to uplift the youth. A total of 1,34,191 beneficiaries were impacted through educational projects, ensuring that 100% of them came from vulnerable and marginalized groups.

Health Initiatives: A significant portion of CSR funds was directed towards health projects, benefiting 5,58,540 individuals. These initiatives focused on improving healthcare accessibility and quality, especially in rural areas.

Environmental Sustainability: With an eye on sustainability, Tata Motors invested in environmental projects that touched 1,39,157 lives, promoting conservation practices and raising awareness about ecological balance.

Rural and Community Development: Addressing the critical needs of rural communities, the company impacted 98,518 individuals through various developmental projects. These initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life and economic well-being of the rural populace.

Administrative Overheads: A minimal amount of Rs. 0.32 crore was spent on administrative expenses, reflecting the company’s commitment to maximizing the allocation towards impactful activities.

Total Expenditure: The aggregate CSR expenditure for the fiscal year stood at Rs. 21.59 crore.
