THOOTHUKUDI: Sterlite Copper has bagged Energy Efficient Unit Award during the 17th National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2016 in Metal Sector by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Green Business Centre at Hyderabad. Efficient Management of available energy resources has been one of the major thrust areas of Vedanta Group’s operations across the world.
The awards have been instituted to recognize and honour “Efficient Unit” in Energy Management as well as to create an opportunity to share best practices and technologies adopted. A panel of judges evaluated companies on the basis of the presentations made on the implementation of Energy Conservation and Management activities. It is noteworthy that 248 companies from various sectors such as paints, refineries, power, paper, automobile, steel, cement and building category applied for this competition.
The award was in recognition to the Sterlite Copper’s excellence in reduction of specific energy consumption, its proximity towards global best in specific energy consumption, innovation in identifying and implementing energy saving projects, methodology adopted during the implementation, proven efforts taken by the company to sustain the savings and utilization of waste materials.
Sterlite Copper Official Santhosh Ganesan, Associate General Manager received this prestigious award from Shobana Kamineni, President Designate CII & Executive Vice-Chairperson, AHEL in a function organised at Hyderabad. R Deepanraj, Associate Manager – Asset Optimization and Vujji Jagadeesh, Associate Manager – Environment were also present during the ceremony.
