BENGALURU: Sikshana Foundation, a Karnataka based NGO, in collaboration with Dell awarded scholarships for the education of 360 underprivileged girl children from rural Karnataka. Additionally, 50 deserving students will be selected for life skills training programs to equip them with employability skills.
The event was held at Gurubhavan, near Sri Ram Theatre in Ramanagara district earlier today. Dignitaries from Sikshana Foundation along with Marigouda, BEO (Block Education Officer), Ramnagara presented scholarships to the new students on-boarded to the program this year.
In the fifth year of collaboration with Dell, the sponsorship supports the education of 360 girl students who belong to Ramnagara district. In an attempt to raise the bar for girl children in terms of employability, the collaboration includes resources for girls who are passionate and talented in the field of sports. In a first of its kind initiative, Sikshana Foundation has designed a 9-month program which will focus on improving conversational English competency among the participants. This project designed in close association with Dell, will be implemented this academic year 2017-2018.
Commenting on the initiative, Rajeev Kapoor, Vice President Finance and CSR Champion, Dell EMC India said “While it is important to educate the girl child, it is equally crucial to ensure her employability to secure her future. Commenting on the project, the Marigouda, BEO, Ramnagra said, “This is a very good program which will improve the quality of education among the girls of Ramnagara. The introduction of the English Program will also enhance their possibilities of a brighter future. We are glad that Sikshana Foundation and Dell are taking such initiatives and are proud to be associated with the two”
