BHUBANESWAR : Noted Kuchipudi danseuse Ms. Shallu Jindal has been conferred with ‘Kalashree Samman’ in the ‘Gandharva Kala Samman – 2015’ programme held at Bhubaneswar on May 24, 2015. Eminent artist Dr. Dinanath Pathi presented the award to Ms. Jindal for her excellence and contribution in the field of Kuchipudi dance. Receiving the award Ms. Shallu Jindal said “I place my gratitude to the People of Odisha for their recognition to Kuchipudi dance”.
“Odisha is the land of Lord Jagannath and I will be very happy to promote classical dance of Odisha through various initiatives through JSPL Foundation”.Being a renowned Kuchipudi danseuse, Ms. Jindal has been enthusiastically encouraging local tribal art, culture and sports in the local communities in and around the areas of operations of JSPL. Under her inspiration, the company pro-actively supports initiatives with a motive to nurture and sustain local form of fine arts and dance.
Ms. Jindal performs the Indian classical dance with rare distinction, immense artistry, brilliant intensity and with profound and visible passion, as expected of seasoned and front line classical dancers of the day. She has performed with much acclaim and alacrity, both nationally and internationally including at Ellora, Khajuraho, Hampi, Elephanta, Monte, Kinkini, Chidambaram, Chakradhar Samaroh, Krishna Gana Sabha, Natyanjali, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Chowmahalla festivals and many recitals at various venues in New Delhi. Apart from this award, Ms. Shallu Jindal has been presented with Devadasi Samman in 2013 at Bhubaneswar and Shrikshetra Samman in 2014 at Puri.
She is also a member on Central Advisory Board on Culture, Government of India and has been appointed the Chairperson of the National Bal Bhawan. She is also the Co-Chairperson of Jindal Steel and Power Foundation spearheading the CSR initiatives of the conglomerate, and the Vice President of the ‘Flag Foundation of India’.
