MUMBAI: Satish Jha, Founder & Chairman of the Ashraya Foundation is invited as a special guest and speaker at Maharashtra CSR Summit in Mumbai. The Maharashtra CSR Summit is themed around ‘Leveraging CSR to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Maharashtra” and will be held on July 27, 2022, in Mumbai at Yashwantrao Chavan Pratisthan Auditorium, Nariman Point.

About Satish Jha
Satish is a social entrepreneur and has been engaged in a spectrum of academic, journalistic, executive and entrepreneurial roles. He launched a Hindi daily newspaper called Jansatta, which achieved a circulation of 100,000 copies in 6 months, setting a precedent for Hindi journalism. He is a former Editor of one of the most prestigious weekly news magazines of the time, Dinamaan of The Times of India Group. On the digital front, Jha led the global information management for the chemicals division of Hoffmann-La Roche, after which he co-founded James Martin & Co (now Genpact), META Group India and Digital Partners (now Grameen Technology).
He has been associated with seeding, mentoring, or managing over 40 startups in the field of education, healthcare and use of technologies. The list includes DESI Power, Tarahaat.com, Drishtee.com, healthcare, and OLPC among others. He has also been engaged in transforming companies from small ideas into category leaders in India, Europe and the USA.
He founded PUCL Bulletin with Arun Jaitley and was active in the early human and civil rights movement in India. Jha was the President & CEO of OLPC (One Laptop per Child), India which led to the adoption of screen-based learning in Government schools across several States in the Country. While working for OLPC he realized that to keep pace with the rapidly changing time and provide equal opportunities to underprivileged children there is a crucial need to digitally transform the Indian education system. This led to establishing the Ashraya Foundation, through which he is implementing a holistic digital learning ecosystem to empower and transform schools to bridge the yawning gap between haves and have-nots.
The entrepreneurial journey of Satish was shaped by studying Economics at Jawahar Lal Nehru University, International affairs at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Government of Science at the Kennedy School, Social Studies at the International Institute of Social Sciences in Holland, Management at EDHEC/ Theseus in France and Foreign Policymaking at the University of Maryland.

It is to be noted that Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur on March 22, 2021 informed the Lok Sabha that Maharashtra has got the largest share of funds, nearly 12,700 crores out of more than 72,000 crores CSR funds.
