Vedanta Lanjigarh observed National Safety week
LANJIGARH (Odisha): Safety is must. It is not merely any guidelines to be followed inside the plant premises only; rather it should be imbibed into our daily practices as well, said Bimalananda Senapati, Plant head while addressing to the gathering during the celebration of national safety week at Vedanta limited, Lanjigarh.
Today, during the celebration of the concluding ceremony of the safety week, Er. Swadhin Behera, Assistant Director, Factories and Boilers graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the event. Present there were Bimalananda Senapati, Plant Head, Jalaj Malpani, Head Finance, D Rabindranath, Head HSE and Mahendra Raut, Head HR among other employees of the plant and partner agencies.
At the start of the event, dignitaries visited the safety stall and various models displayed by the different departments of the unit. Behera appreciated the efforts of Vedanta towards sustaining a safety culture inside the unit and acknowledged ‘zero fatality achievement’ in the last year.
During the celebration week, many safety awareness programs and competitions such as safety skit, safety slogan competitions, poster design, workplace safety etc. were organized among the plant personnel. Partnering CSR, Vedanta had also reached out to its periphery villages to spread awareness on the importance of safety in daily life. In line with this, the company conducted drawing and debate competitions on safety practices in 17 peripheral schools wherein approximately 1900 students took part to make this a great success. All the winners and best performers in the field of safety were awarded by the distinguished guests.
As a part of its continuing effort to promote and inculcate safety consciousness among the plant personnel, 46th National safety week was observed from 4th March to 10th March at Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh. This year’s national safety day theme is “Leadership in safety and health enhances business sustainability’’.
