To prevent the spread of coronavirus and address the ongoing pandemic wave, community radio Alfaz-e-Mewat FM 107.8 (an initiative of S M Sehgal Foundation) with support from Seeking Modern Applications for Real Transformation (SMART) will begin the broadcast of a radio series “Corona Se Jung Savadhani Ke Sang” from February 1, 2022.
The 06-episode radio series focusses on omicron symptoms, treatment and self-care, home quarantine, COVID vaccination, and COVID appropriate behaviour. The objective of the series is to inform the community about the virus, its causes and effects so that a circle of prevention can be created among the community to abate the infection. The key themes covered in the programs will be awareness on the omicron variant, COVID appropriate behaviour and vaccination for adolescents aged 15-18 years.
“The program will engage listeners through live discussion after every episode so that the community can share their issues and concerns. RJ links and filers on the above topics in the programs would also reinforce the information in an easy way for a better recall by the listeners,” said Pooja O Murada, Principal Lead- Outreach for Development, S M Sehgal Foundation.
“Corona Se Jung, Savdhani Ke Sang” will be broadcast on Alfaz-e-Mewat every Tuesday at 9:45 AM and repeat broadcast at 7:35 PM.
Alfaz-e-Mewat has been continuously making programs during the pandemic to increase awareness and promote COVID appropriate behaviour among communities. The radio station is working closely with the district administration and health department to bring timely and accurate information to the people, identify positive examples from the community on vaccination to spread the message, and dispel myths around vaccination.
The radio station reaches 225 villages of Nuh district, Haryana and has been playing an instrumental role in informing communities through its broadcast focused on COVID-19.
