MUMBAI (India CSR): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the launch of its annual Inter-Bank Hindi Essay Competition for 2025-26, aimed at promoting original writing in Hindi on issues of economics, finance, banking, and general interest.
For the upcoming edition, the central bank has chosen the topic “टैरिफ, विश्व व्यापार और भारत” (Tariffs, Global Trade and India), reflecting contemporary challenges and debates in the global economic landscape. The competition is open to all officers and staff members of RBI, public sector banks, and their sponsored regional rural banks (RRBs), except Rajbhasha officers and translators.
Last Date and Prizes
Participants must submit their essays in Hindi by June 20, 2025 (Friday). According to RBI, winners in each language group will receive cash prizes of Rs. 14,000 (First Prize), Rs. 10,000 (Second Prize), Rs. 8,000 (Third Prize), and two Consolation Prizes of Rs. 3,000 each.
The detailed rules of the competition, including classification of language groups, have been provided in Annex ‘A’ of the notification. Encouraging Hindi in Financial Discourse
The competition is part of RBI’s broader effort to encourage original thinking in Hindi on financial and economic subjects, aligning with the bank’s policy of promoting the use of Hindi in official and intellectual forums. The annual contest seeks to engage the banking community in critical issues while simultaneously promoting India’s national language.
Wider Participation Expected
RBI has requested all public sector banks and their sponsored RRBs to ensure that details of the competition are widely circulated among their officers and staff to encourage maximum participation.
Chief General Manager Puneet Pancholy, in the announcement, noted that the contest not only incentivises quality writing but also provides a platform for employees to contribute fresh perspectives on pressing issues in India’s economic development and global trade dynamics.
