New Delhi – India’s Vice President (VP) M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday (1 Jul) called upon the doctors to serve the downtrodden and marginalised sections of society with affordable healthcare, a media release said.
Interacting with a delegation of Delhi Medical Association on the occasion of Doctors Day, here today, Naidu reminded them of the reverent manner in which doctors are treated by the people and urged the medical fraternity to serve people with empathy and compassion.
The VP wanted doctors to visit nearby educational institutions in their respective localities and create awareness about the serious impact of a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy diet on the health of the people.
The VP urged the doctors to be pro-active in educating people, particularly the youth about the dangers of sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy food habits in view of the rise in non-communicable diseases, a media release said.
