RAJGANGPUR: As a responsible corporate citizen, OCL India Ltd (BSE: 502165 | NSE: OCL), the flag ship company of ‘Dalmia Group’ of companies, has undertaken various developmental activities (in the fields of health, infrastructure development, livelihood training, drinking water, education, sports, and environment protection) in peripheral areas of its plants and captive mines to improve socio-economic conditions of people on a sustainable basis.
OCL India Ltd. in association with the premier Hyderabad-headquartered L V Prasad Eye Institute brought to existence the OCL Eye Centre in the same time last year as another noble attempt to support prevailing healthcare scenario in the region with specialist eye care services powered by advanced ophthalmic technologies. Keeping in mind the scarcity of ophthalmologists in the remote areas, the initiative was applauded at all levels.
In order to celebrate success of the phenomenal service over the course of one year, members OCL India Ltd. and LVPEI family came together in an event graced by presence of Smt Subhrabala Behera, Tehsildar, Rajgangpur, Dr. Sushil Kumar Kar, CDMO, Sundargarh, Smt Susrita Paikaray, Chairman, Rajgangpur Municipality, Dr. Taraprasad Das, Vice Chairman, L V Prasad Eye Institute and Ganesh Jirkuntwar, Executive Director (Manufacturing – Cement), OCL India Ltd,. The event was followed by a colourful cultural programme by the local residents and plant officials.

OCL Eye Centre has treated nearly 15,000 patients within the last year and also facilitated free treatment and eye surgeries. The centre offers comprehensive eye examination consisting of a thorough evaluation of vision and ocular health. This includes refraction (an evaluation of the patient’s need for glasses or contact lenses), complete dilated eye examination and screening for common conditions such as dry eye, cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration and retinal diseases such as those associated with diabetes and high blood pressure.

The L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) was established in 1986-87 at Hyderabad as a not-for-profit, non-government, public-spirited, comprehensive eye care institution. LVPEI is governed by two trusts: the Hyderabad Eye Institute and the Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation. The Institute is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness and a Global Resource Centre for VISION 2020: The Right to Sight initiative.
