Chennai: Part of a global network, Oasis India, organised ‘She Is Priceless Campaign’, an initiative to inform, influence and mobilise support against abuse and trafficking in human.
The campaign is undertaken by conducting several awareness programmes in schools, colleges and corporates.
The UN has declared 30 Jul as World Day against trafficking in persons to raise awareness about human trafficking and protection of their rights.
Oasis staff conducted sessions for students on the issues at B K Kothari Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai.
Evangaline Grace, English Trainer and Safe-Guarding Officer at Oasis, spoke about the reasons behind trafficking and its interventions at the session.
Over 75 children benefitted from the session and many expressed their desire to volunteer with the organisation.
Prakash A, Community Based Organiser, conducted another session for the department of Bachelor in Social Work of Thiruthangal Nadar Arts and Science College, Chennai and addressed over 100 students in the session.
The students were conscious and aware of the issue and asked questions about how to combat this social evil.
The company is working towards disadvantaged communities with initiatives in education, health, employment readiness, sports and other related areas with a key focus on anti-human trafficking.
