NTPC Spends Rs. 356 Cr in CSR in FY 2021-22

The CSR initiatives have touched, in one way or the other, the lives of around 14 lakh people, residing in remote locations.

Focus areas of CSR & Sustainability activities are Health, Sanitation, Safe Drinking Water and Education. NTPC CSR has a three-tier structure – Corporate, Region, and Station Level.


New Delhi (India CSR): Being a responsible corporate organisation, community engagement is one of the business priorities of NTPC Limited. The company spent Rs. 356.72 crores during the financial year 2021-22 towards CSR initiatives, which surpassed the prescribed two percent amount of Rs. 281.80 crores, thus achieving a CSR spend of 2.53%.

Out of the said CSR Expenditure, your Company, in alignment with the guidelines issued by DPE on the common Annual theme for CPSEs of “Health & Nutrition” for FY 2021-22, has spent an amount of ` 198.95 Crore i.e., 70.60% which is more than the prescribed 60% on Annual Theme.

“While ensuring strong financial growth we are also committed to inclusive growth. An amount of Rs. 356.72 Crore (on a standalone basis) was spent towards CSR initiatives, achieving a CSR spend of 3%, more than the prescribed 2% limit. For group CSR projects (consolidated basis) expenditure of Rs. 419 Crores was incurred. Along with enriching the lives of people under CSR, we also undertake many activities for ensuring environmental sustainability. Major activities carried out include massive plantation of trees and their maintenance, installation of rooftop Solar PV around power stations on public utility buildings and schools, vermicomposting/ Bio-Methanation plant or Paper re-cycling machines.”, the company’s annual report said.

Focus areas of CSR & Sustainability activities are Health, Sanitation, Safe Drinking Water and Education. NTPC CSR has a three-tier structure – Corporate, Region, and Station Level.

The company commits itself to contribute to society, discharging its corporate social responsibilities through initiatives that have a positive impact on society, especially the community in the neighborhood of its operations by improving the quality of life of the people, promoting inclusive growth and environmental sustainability.

During the year, about 450 villages and more than 400 schools have benefitted from various CSR initiatives at different locations.

The CSR initiatives have touched, in one way or the other, the lives of around 14 lakh people, residing in remote locations.

NTPC Foundation, funded by your Company, is engaged in serving and empowering the differently abled and economically weaker sections of society.

CSR initiatives during the Financial Year 2021-22 have been taken up on PAN India basis around NTPC operations primarily in 22 states & UT mentioned – Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, J&K, Karnataka, Kerala, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal.
