Bhubaneswar : The public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has spent more than Rs.56 crore for the development of the periphery areas in Angul where its smelter and power plants are located.
As a policy, the company is contributing 1 percent of its net profit of the year for peripheral development activities in the succeeding year.

While 40 percent of the allocable funds are earmarked for Angul and Damanjodi sectors each, 20 percent is spent for other areas.
Similarly, the company has taken up some major projects at Angul which includes permanent water supply project for 24 villages at a cost of Rs.10.59 crore under the Rural Water Supply & Sanitation scheme of the Orissa government.
