KOCHI: Muthoot M George Foundation, the CSR wing of Muthoot Finance Ltd, on Feb 26, felicitated talented students with scholarships to pursue their professional education.
Scholarship will be provided to students studying MBBS, Engineering, BSc Nursing and B.Com. (Hon) Water Resource Minister, Mathew T Thomas launched the Muthoot M George Higher Education Scholarship.
Prof. (Dr.) Kuncheria P. Isaac, Former Vice Chancellor, Kerala Technological University distributed the scholarship to the deserving students. George Alexander Muthoot, Managing Director, The Muthoot Group presided the event.
The event was held today in Kochi in the august presence of Prof. K V Thomas, Member of Parliament; Dr. A Unnikrishnan, Principal, Rajagiri College; Prof. Dr. Ramkumar, Principal, MITS; Sr. Dr. Celine E (Sr.Vinitha), St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam; Dr. Haneesh, General Hospital Ernakulam; Dr. Junaid, Former Director, Govt. Medical College, Ernakulam; K Mohammed Y Safirulla IAS, District Collector, Ernakulam; Dr. Usha Marath, Principal, Lissie College of Nursing, Ernakulam; V A Joseph, Managing Director & CEO, South Indian Bank; K P Padmakumar, Former chairman of Federal Bank & wholetime director, MVFL and John Paul, Independent Director, Muthoot Finance Ltd.
George M Alexander said, “We bestowed scholarships to 40 deserving achievers to nurture and encourage the young minds. We remain duly committed to the community with various corporate social responsibilities in the near future.”
Once the candidate is selected he/she will be entitled to the scholarship every year till the completion of the course, subject to the relevant terms and conditions. The projected financial outlay for the scheme is as follows.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of their qualifying examination (+2 examination). Students who secure 80% or equivalent grading in the qualifying examination and whose family income is below Rs. 2 lakhs per annum are eligible for applying the scholarship. The candidate should also qualify in the relevant Entrance Examination and obtain admission in a recognized educational institution.
The selection procedure for the scholarship:
- Applications were invited through press release
- 400 applications received
- Shortlisted 20 applications in each category based on +2 mark list
- Verification reports collected from respective colleges
- Field verification conducted to know their financial background
- Selected 10 candidates from each category for scholarship, a total of 40 candidates
