Social commerce is a type of e-commerce that takes place on social media platforms. It allows users to discover, research, and purchase products and services through social media platforms. Social commerce is a powerful tool that can be used to reach a wider audience, increase brand awareness, and generate sales. Businesses in India that are looking to grow their online presence should consider using social commerce.

  • Social commerce is growing rapidly in India, with a projected value of $16–20 billion by 2025.
  • Social commerce in India has grown by a staggering 51% YoY from 2021 to 2022.

There are a number of factors that are driving the growth of social commerce in India. These include:

The increasing penetration of smartphones and internet access in India

The growing popularity of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp

The increasing trust that consumers have in online shopping

The growing availability of online payment options

Benefits Social commerce

Social commerce offers a number of benefits for both consumers and businesses. For consumers, social commerce makes it easy to discover and purchase products and services from a variety of sellers. It also allows consumers to interact with other consumers and businesses, and to get feedback on products and services. For businesses, social commerce can help them to reach a wider audience, increase brand awareness, and generate sales.

There are a number of different ways that social commerce can be used in India.

Some of the most common ways include:

Social media marketing: Businesses can use social media platforms to market their products and services to a wider audience. They can do this by creating and sharing content, running ads, and engaging with users.

Social media selling: Businesses can sell their products and services directly through social media platforms. They can do this by creating a store on a social media platform, or by accepting payments through social media messaging apps.

Social media influencer marketing: Businesses can partner with social media influencers to promote their products and services. Influencers are people who have a large following on social media, and who are trusted by their follower.
