Maruti Suzuki – India’s most trusted carmaker is all-set to launch its new 7-seater car, which be based on one of its most successful cars – Maruti Suzuki WagonR. Yes, you have read it right. The all-new Maruti 7 Seater Car is none other than the 2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR 7-Seater variant, which is expected to be launched sometime by the end of this year.

2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR 7-Seater: Everything you need to know

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR is undoubtedly one of the most successful and popular cars in India, which still manages to grab a top position in the best-selling cars’ list. However, with more than 15 lakh units of sales in the market and increasing competition, this 5-sized small family car needed an upgrade.

And now, Maruti Suzuki has officially confirmed the introduction of new-generation WagonR Series, which will feature new engines and an all-new body design and dynamics. Other than the regular 5-seater variant, Maruti Suzuki will also launch a 7-seater variant of 2018 WagonR, which makes it one of the best cars buys for an Indian family that loves to travel together.

Earlier, several reports surfaced on the internet, which claimed that the all-new Maruti 7 Seater Car will be named as Solio, which is already available in other countries and was also showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo. Later the WagonR 7-seater concept was also showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.

According to Autoportal.com, the Wagon-R based Solio will be a sub-four metre mini MPV with a 5+2 seating arrangement for big Indian families. The WagonR based Solio available in the international market is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that churns 90bhp of maximum power and 118NM of peak torque. It comes matted to a five-speed automatic transmission.

However, we believe that Maruti Suzuki will tweak this engine to suit the demands of Indian customers, where a manual transmission will also be launched. Maruti Suzuki could go either with the 67.04bhp, 1.0L K10B petrol or 84bhp, 1.2L K-Series petrol engine for its new offering.

The Maruti Suzuki Solio or WagonR 7-Seater has been caught testing on the Indian roads several times in camouflaged and even undisguised avatars. It was first spotted sometime before the 2018 Auto Expo, which gave us a hint that it can be showcased or launched in the event itself. However, it didn’t happen.

Now, reports have emerged that indicate that Maruti Suzuki will start the production of the 2018 WagonR 7-Seater or Solio in September 2018, and it will be officially launched by the year end.

Currently, there is no official word on the pricing of the all-new Maruti 7 Seater Car, which will be either named as 2018 Maruti Suzuki WahonR or the Maruti Suzuki Solio. It could be priced between Rs.5 lakhs to 8 lakhs (Ex-Showroom).

Will you buy Maruti’s new 7-seater car in India? Do share your views on this mini-MPV in the comment segment below.
