MUMBAI: Aiming to positively impact the lives of people in India, SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) has joined hands with L&T Public Charitable Trust (LTPCT) to spread computer literacy amongst youth and children belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society.
As a part of this initiative, SAP & LTPCT will train and equip the underprivileged budding talent through SAP Learning Hub programs and SAP certified courses and thereby generate employment opportunities for these skilled professionals. Also, SAP and LTPC will also donate laptops to various schools in Talasari village, Maharashtra as a part of this unique program and provide computer education and soft skills training to the students in these schools.
Speaking on this occasion, Ashok D. Shahane, Trustee, L&T Public Charitable Trust said, “Our vision is to touch lives, change outlooks and bring about a positive change in the society with the power of education. This initiative is one small step towards the betterment of underprivileged section of our community. Introducing them to the world of endless possibilities, inspire them to dream big and consequently contribute to the development of the country.”

Mathew Thomas, Vice President – Strategic Industries, SAP India said, “With this learning initiative, we aim at improving the employability of those from low socio-economic backgrounds. By collaborating with L&T Public Charitable Trust, SAP intends to support children, youth and even their teachers by providing critical resources that improve their chances of high quality employment.”
SAP and LTPCT in association with Pratham Education Foundation will kick-start this initiative with an aim to impart advanced computer education to the children and youth belonging to the socio-economically weak section of nation’s community. The two corporate giants will come together for this humble cause and complement their competencies for the betterment of the society.
Some of the key objectives outlined in this initiative are:
Training students through SAP Learning Hub’s ‘Learning Hum Discovery’ program: SAP India Education team will train and groom 250 underprivileged students through SAP Learning Hub’s ‘Learning Hum Discovery’ program that will offer SAP Overview and SAP Navigation courses to these students. Post this, based on their merits, selective students will be given an opportunity to pursue SAP Certification courses at a subsidized fee. After the completion of the outlined curriculum these fully equipped youngsters will also get a breakthrough opportunity to work with L&T, L&T Infotech or within the SAP ecosystem.
Training faculty members of L&T Institute of Technology under the guidance of SAP University Alliance: SAP University Alliance will train the faculty members of L&T Institute of Technology and provide them a comprehensive understanding of SAP ERP. The hands-on expertise they achieve by this effort will enable them to educate and enhance the knowledge of over 400 underprivileged students who wish to seek holistic understanding of SAP ERP through the “Introduction to SAP ERP using Global Bike Inc.” dataset.
Imparting computer education to school children in Talasari Village, Maharashtra: As a part of this initiative, SAP will also donate 85 laptops and provide computer education and soft skill training to students in P.J. Pandit School, Shri Dada Bhagwat Vidya Niketan, Adivasi Madhyamik School, Sunilkom Madhyamik High School and Girgaum Madhyamik High School in Talasari village, Maharashtra.

The aim of this effort is to provide new-age computer education to young learners, equip them with basic computing skills to use MS Office- Word, Excel, PPT and enable them to explore and learn about the world of internet and social media. LTPCT will provide the necessary guidance to design the curriculum to run this initiative and team SAP will offer the infrastructural help and conduct essential on-ground training programs in the schools.
Additionally, Team LTPCT will also coordinate interface with these schools as well as local governing authorities and conduct necessary audits to ensure quality maintenance of the program. Administrative responsibilities, trainer coordination and lab maintenance will be managed by Pratham Education Foundation.
