ANGUL: The Three-day long JSPL Foundation Cup Football Championship – 2015 tournament come to an end today with the final match played between Angul Warriors and Patratu Panthers at Mahitala Sports Ground, near Nisha in Angul district. Angul warrior defeated Patratu Panthers in 3-1 Goals to become the first champion of the tournament.
Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, Angul Location Head and Executive Director In-Charge graced the occasion as Chief-Guest and presented the trophy to the winners. Kalpana Dash, the first Odia Mountaineer to scale Mount Everest was present in this ceremony as Guest-of-Honor. Other dignitaries’ and officials of JSPL, Samar Suri, EVP-Projects, S.K Sharma, AVP-CSR&R; Ajay Singh, GM R&R,Ashish Pandey, DGM and Mrs. Pushpalata Satapathy, DGM-CSR, Chanda Charan Das, Principal, OP Jindal School were also present during the programme,
Addressing the players for their sporting spirit, Dinesh Kumar Saraogi said, “This three-day long tournament is one of our attempts to identify and nurture local sporting talents. I am sure with the training and support, the players identified through this tournament will bring glory for India”.
Total Six numbers of teams, composed of selected best players of the respective teams, from periphery villages of JSPL Plants in Jharkhand, Chhatishgarh and Odisha participated in this tournament.Witnessing the grand finale of the tournament Kalpana Dash, advised the players for regular practice to improve their skill. She appreciated the efforts by JSPL for promoting and nurturing rural sports talents in its periphery.
Narendra Karmadi of Patratu Panthers, Antaryami Naik of Angul Warriors Alok Kumar Singh of Angul Warriors, Aditya Dehuary of Angul Warriors were adjudged as Best Player of the tournament, Man-of-the-Match, best defender of the tournament and best goal-keeper of the tournament, respectively.
Along with the winner and runner-up trophies all the remaining four teams were also awarded for their participation in this tournament which was enjoyed by thousands of villagers from the periphery villages of JSPL.
JSPL Foundation has been encouraging the rural sports talents in the sphere of Athletes, Kabbadi, Khoko, Volleyball and Cricket and also promoting the Players for higher coaching through State/ District Sports Hostel Facilities with scholarship support.
