Jaipur – Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital has cured 85 children out of the 93 who got full medical treatment from the hospital, a media release said.
The children are treated under ‘Donate a Life’ programme, the hospital launched in 2014, where it called for voluntary donations of up to Rs 500,000 for treating a child suffering with cancer.
While the multi-stage treatment took between 1 and 2 years to completely cure the children, the children are now leading a normal life.
DALF helps the families from economically weaker backgrounds by providing free treatment to children suffering from three types of blood cancer viz Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (HD) and Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML)
Till now, the hospital has registered 142 children suffering from the three blood cancer – 103 from ALL, 34 from HD and 5 from APML, the release said.
With the development of anticancer therapies, today, a number of cancers especially in children, are considered curable cancers.
