Collaboration aimed towards catering to the educational and transformational needs of economically underprivileged children in Delhi and Noida

NEW DELHI: Intex Technologies, one of the leading consumer electronics major, today entered into a partnership with Gyan Shakti Vidyalaya (the School-after-School) for the upliftment of around 500 underprivileged children in Delhi and Noida. This collaboration is aimed at providing education as well as skills to those who have been deprived of their basic socio-economic needs, thereby helping them to enter the mainstream of society.
Gyan Shakti Vidyalaya (under the aegis of the Shanti Narayan Memorial Trust) is working towards the transformation of children to become skilled, productive and responsible adults with an enthusiasm for learning and an ambition to progress in life. Intex is supporting Gyan Shakti Vidyalaya in this endeavour to provide the deprived children with holistic learning opportunities. The aim is to provide supervision, guidance and inspiration to significantly improve their academic achievements, communication skills, self-confidence and overall personality development.
Intex also plans to replicate this model at other places within the Delhi NCR as well as in other Metros of India in years to come.
Speaking on the association, Ishita Bansal, CSR Project Head, Intex Technologies said, “Intex Technologies has always endeavored to actively support community building initiatives aimed at promoting public welfare and empowering people. One of the pillars of empowerment for Intex is education, which enables and transforms the life of a child to become a better human being and Indian citizen. Working towards this goal, we have collaborated with Gyan Shakti Vidyalaya which has been doing great work to support the overall upliftment of 500 underprivileged children in Delhi and Noida.”
Gyan Shakti Vidyalaya is an initiative that started with 30 children, 2 volunteers and some citizen volunteers in 2006. It now extends to 460 school going and 30 non-school going children (218 girls and 242 boys) and 13 teachers. Its group of core members including its Founders Rear Admiral (Retd) H. C. Malhotra and Mr. Sunil Razdan as well as Mr Sanjeeva Narayan, Trustee of the Shanti Narayan Memorial Trust plan and steer the program duly integrated with the curriculum at the Government schools in Mayur Vihar – Phase 1, Delhi where they are mainstreamed for formal education.
Says Rear Admiral (Retd) H. C. Malhotra, Founder, Gyan Shakti Vidyalaya (GSV), “Without any designed formal blueprint, the journey of GSV slowly gathered momentum involving inspirational, evolutionary and experiential learning amongst the parents, the children and all of us, with integral challenges, which had to be resolved and overcome. This had to be done with creative but acceptable solutions, to ensure a healthy progress so as to enable and provide these uncared for slum children from the banks of the Yamuna River with appropriate opportunity to be able to discover and explore their talents and potential, leading to their holistic transformation, as responsible, skilled and employable citizens. We express our warm appreciation and gratitude to Intex for their integrated support for this specific initiative and also to expand this unique learning experience to several places around the NCR and maybe across the country, wherever needed, as a CSR Mission.”
